What's Happening
The North Beach Oceanfront Center, located at 7251 Collins Avenue, will begin exterior repair and restoration work this summer.
In late 2024, a piece of the facade on the eastern side of the building became dislodged. The shoring and walkway protection was erected for public safety. The consulting firm BCC Engineering, Inc. was retained to conduct an inspection and determined environmental factors corroded some elements of the facade. A repair plan has been developed, and repair work is scheduled to begin this summer. The estimated project duration is 18 to 24 months, with an anticipated completion around July 2028. The shoring and walkway protection will remain in place until the building is fully restored.
The North Beach Oceanfront Center is the location for UNIDAD services and provides programs and recreational activities for the city’s senior community. The repair plans were developed in collaboration with the center's operator to ensure minimal interruptions to operations and services.
Additionally, renovations for the interior of the building are expected to begin later in 2026 and continue through 2027. The interior renovations are part of the G.O. Bond for Arts & Culture Program. The renovations will improve the existing building spaces and interior acoustics to enhance the program’s operations and services.
What to expect:
- Continued shoring and walkway protections around the building.
- Moderate levels of construction noise.
- Project completion in 2028.
