Tuesday, October 6 | Drop-In Discussion: What We Carry
The theme for this season is “What We Carry” and Rev. Eileen will lead us through one or more of the activities in our shared Spiritual Deepening Packet for the season. Please come and participate! We meet via Zoom on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!
Sunday, October 11 | Monthly Food Ingathering!
Our monthly food collection for the Community Food Cupboard! We always appreciate and need low-sodium non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, and cash to help those in our community.
Sunday, October 11 | LGBTQIA+ Social Action Circle Meeting
Both queer and ally individuals alike are invited to attend our meeting, as we plan on collaborating to make our congregation and Rochester even more fabulous! Feel free to grab a snack from the coffee hour and head upstairs to the Gratitude Room (#22) after service at noon! We hope to see you there! Talk to Willow, or a committee member, if you want to help!
Month of October | Social Justice Plate Offering: Person Centered Housing Options Inc (PCHO)
Our October Social Justice Plate Offering is designated for Person Centered Housing Options Inc, a not-for-profit organization that adopts a housing-centered, person-centered approach, which holds that individuals who are homeless must first gain access to permanent, safe places to live before stabilizing their lifestyle, improving their health, addressing harmful behaviors, and finding and maintaining jobs. Please give what you can to support this worthy cause. For more information, visit pcho.org.
Settled Ministry Task Force: Our Next Steps
Thanks to all who shared their thoughts about whether to call Rev. Eileen Casey Campbell to be our next Settled Minister! Our team will now assemble the survey results, as well as the feedback we got at the listening sessions. We’ll use that information to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees prior to the end of October. Watch for information about a possible congregational vote sometime in November. Email settledministryteam@uuroc.org to connect with us.
Upcoming Coffee Hours
On October 11, the coffee hour theme is “Harvest Abundance” and everyone is invited to bring a dish with a fall theme (please include a list of ingredients). The choir will be sponsoring coffee hour on October 18 and will bring special treats. And the 25th, the last Sunday of October, will be another potluck coffee hour and everyone is invited to bring a dish (and a list of ingredients). NOTE: We are clearing out the individual coffee mugs that have been stored in the cabinet in the Clara Barton Lounge. Please pick up your mug by Nov. 1 and take it home. Any mugs left by Nov. 8 are up for grabs!
