Walking Awake would love to share one (or more!) of our 2026/2027 events with YOU!

Has Scotland been calling you?...

We have three Walking Awake pilgrimages scheduled in Scotland for 2027!

Our TWO Spring 2027 Walking Awake journeys have been timed perfectly for those who may wish to consider attending both - allowing two free days in between for individuals to explore other locations such as Edinburgh and Glasgow, on their own.

Our First Spring 2027 Pilgrimage:

A 2027 Orkney Odyssey:

A Walking Awake Pilgrimage to Orkney Scotland

April 30th - May 5th, 2027

For this journey, we'll pick up and drop off our group at the Holiday Inn EXPRESS at the Glasgow Airport. On our way up to Orkney, we'll explore Dunrobin Castle and Gardens located on the east coast in the Northern Highlands overlooking the Moray Firth, one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the early 1300s, home to the Earls and later, the Dukes of Sutherland. After our time at Dunrobin, we will continue north, then board the ferry for our evening sail to Orkney. Our ensuite accommodation while on Orkney will be at the lovely Merkister Hotel.

Some of the places we'll visit during our Orkney Odyssey:

  • Skara Brae: The remarkably well-preserved ruins of a Neolithic village unveiled by a wind storm in 1850
  • The awe-inspiring Standing Stones of Stenness and the nearby remains of Barnhouse Neolithic Village
  • The unforgettable Ring of Brodgar where we will be able to walk amongst (and touch!) over 30 standing stones
  • The atmospheric chambered burial cairn of Maeshowe
  • The ruins of the Iron Age Broch of Gurness (described as Scotland's best preserved broch village). Here you will have the opportunity to literally step into history as you walk around and through the remains of this long-ago settlement
  • A day trip and guided walk through Kirkwall featuring a visit to the Romanesque St. Magnus Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Scotland, also rich in Viking and Witch history. Also including a visit to the Bishop's Palace, and the Italian Chapel
  • A private story-telling evening at the Orkney Story Telling Center, exclusive to our group
  • A visit to Clava Cairns in Inverness on our return to Glasgow

Our Second Spring 2027 Pilgrimage:

NEW! Walking Awake on the Islands of Skye, Lewis and Harris, Scotland:

May 8th - 14th, 2027

Pick up and drop off for this journey will also be at the Holiday Inn EXPRESS at the Glasgow airport. On our way to the Isle of Skye, we will visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. one of the most recognised castles in Scotland featured in photos around the world. Our ensuite accommodation on Skye will be at the centrally located, Sligachan Hotel.

Some of the places we'll visit during our journey to the Isles of Skye and Lewis/Harris:

On Skye:

  • The beautiful crystal-clear blue Fairy pools located beneath the stunning view of the Black Cullins
  • Dunvegan Castle and Gardens - the ancestral home of the Clan MacLeod for over 800 years. Also the home to the mysterious Fairy Flag
  • The Old Man of Stor, a 55 metre-high pinnacle of basalt rock - all that remains of a 2.800 million year-old volcanic plug
  • The ruins of Duntulm Castle
  • The Jurassic views at An Corran Beach where in 2002, after a storm exposed newly accessible rock, a woman walking her dog discovered the imprint of 168 Million year old dinosaur footprint
  • The magically enchanting Fairy Glen with its spiralling labyrinth
  • The dramatic, craggy, otherworldly landscapes of the Quirang

On Lewis/Harris:

After our time on Skye concludes, we will board our private-hire bus and take the ferry over to Lewis/Harris where we will check into our ensuite accommodation at the Royal Stornoway Hotel in Stornoway.

While on Lewis/Harris we will visit the following:

  • The 5000 year-old cross-shaped setting of the world-famous Callanish Standing stones, including the opportunity to visit the lesser known stone circles of Callanish and, if it is open, time to experience the newly renovated Callanish Visitor's Centre
  • Time to stroll in the beauty of the stunning Luskentyre Beach. Rated one of the world's most beautiful beaches, its expansive shoreline of sparkling white sand and incredibly turquoise blue water is simply magical
  • Time to explore Stornoway and learn more about Harris Tweed
  • Also day excursions to visit other ancient sites such as brochs and settlements (TBA)

Our Third Pilgrimage is in the Autumn of 2027:

Walking Awake on Iona:

A pilgrimage to the

Isle of Iona, Scotland

September 1st - 9th, 2027

As you probably know by now, Nick and I met on the ferry on the way to Iona 13 years ago and we lovingly refer to our story as our 'Ferry' Tale come true! Iona is very special to us for that reason however, it called to each of us individually long before we met one another.

This beloved, thin-veiled place is uniquely full of historic and mythical tales, as well as Nature's breathtaking beauty. Whether you've been before and long to return, or have been dreaming of visiting Iona for quite sometime, we'd love to share Iona with you in September 2027!

This pilgrimage will resemble our past Iona journeys featuring our guided walks and sessions amongst the many sacred sites on this beloved Isle.

Walking Awake into the

Celtic New Year!

at Kirkridge Retreat Center, Bangor, PA

October 30th - November 1st, 2026

It's a magical spoke on the Celtic Wheel of the Year when the veil is thin between us and the Ancestors, and when the year begins anew. It's a beautiful time to be in Pennsylvania. Kirkridge Retreat Center and neighbouring Columcille Megalith Park rest on top of the Kittatinny Ridge in the Pocono Mountains. Autumn will be displaying its magnificent colours. During our Celtic New Year weekend, we will connect deeply with the Ancestors, Nature's seasonal lessons, and each other.

This annual Walking Awake event will include guided walks and sessions out in Nature at Kirkridge Retreat Center and amongst the Standing Stones and sites at Columcille Megalith Park. It will also offer the opportunity for guests to attend Columcille Megalithic Park's torchlit Samhain celebration on the Saturday evening (within walking distance from our home for the weekend, at the Kirkridge Farmhouse).
