Dear Supporters,
Earlier this month, I joined colleagues at the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Detroit for the joint conference of the Association of Holocaust Organizations and the Council of American Jewish Museums. The conference brought together Holocaust educators, museum professionals, historians, and Jewish communal leaders from across North America. I had the privilege of presenting alongside a colleague on how we are meaningfully integrating regional Jewish history with Holocaust education to preserve history, celebrate resilience, and inspire future generations.
What struck me most was how much interest there was in the work happening here in Arizona.
Attendees were eager to learn how our community is connecting local Jewish history with Holocaust education in ways that resonate across generations. We received thoughtful questions about our educational philosophy, the vision behind the Hilton Family Holocaust Education Center and the Cutler✡Plotkin Jewish Heritage Campus, and how our model might help other communities create meaningful connections between local experiences and global history.
Arizona’s Jewish story reflects themes of adaptation, resilience, entrepreneurship, community-building, and reinvention. By presenting Holocaust history alongside the experiences of Jewish communities past and present, we create a deeper understanding of both what was lost and what continues to flourish. Together, these narratives tell a more complete story and offer a model that other institutions are beginning to explore.
As I shared our vision with colleagues from across North America, I was reminded that none of this happens without you. Each of you is part of the foundation of every program, every story we preserve, and every initiative. Every visitor we inspire is possible because of your support. We are profoundly grateful to have you as part of our AZJHS community. Thank you for believing in this work and for helping us build something that is already making an impact well beyond Arizona. I look forward to continuing this exciting journey together.
All the best,
