Voting, Dismantling Racism, and Ossining Tomorrow
Early voting is underway at the Community Center for candidates in Democratic and Republican primaries for some congressional, state, county and local races. All primary voters have a choice this time whether to vote in person or by mail. Tomorrow is the final day to submit your application for an absentee ballot so that you can vote by mail. Click here for an absentee ballot application . The dates and times for early voting are noted in the image here. If you plan to vote on Primary Election Day, remember that you very likely will not head to your usual polling place. The only two locations for voting on June 23 are the Community Center and Roosevelt School. Note, you can still vote in person even if you applied for an absentee ballot. Your absentee ballot will be nullified in the Board of Elections system when you sign in at the in-person voting location.

Earlier today the Village Trustees and I shared a statement of our commitment working to dismantle racism beginning here in our own community. Click here to read the full statement . The task of undoing centuries of injustice is daunting. Fortunately there is progress that can be made right here. Stay tuned for more opportunities to engage on how we can improve the transparency, accountability and connections that are essential for the safety of our community.

Last week's village board meeting included an update on Ossining Tomorrow, the comprehensive plan update. Click here to offer feedback on the Ideas Wall and to learn more about Ossining Tomorrow. We also discussed what recreation summer programming is going to look like. There will be some opportunities available for young people in Ossining to have structured outdoor play and some specialized activities. Because of physical distancing requirements, this year's offerings will look quite different than our usual camp program. Click here to read last week's full agenda and view the meeting video .

Wednesday's Meeting
This week's very busy legislative agenda opens with a special presentation to the Ossining High School Class of 2020. We will then have a continuing discussion of proposed wetlands protection legislation. Items D and I are part of a series of initiatives by the village to help alleviate some of the financial burdens being experienced by so many of our residents. Items E, F, G, H and J all move forward efforts related to grants the village was awarded by NYS for improvements to parking/transportation and the new water filtration plan. Item K is is a resolution to grant Preferred Developer Status for the village owned property known as the DPW site. Click here to read this week's full agenda .

I look forward to seeing you virtually, from six feet away, or with our faces covered!

With Regards,
Victoria Gearity, Ossining Mayor
Book Harvest!

We are pleased to be partnering with the Ossining Union Free School District in hosting a weekly Book Harvest.

Our book donation bins will be located outside the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center near the food donation pick up area on Tuesdays from 9-11 AM. All donations received at that time will be quarantined appropriately.

Book distributions to young readers may include: summer book bundles, pop-up book giveaways, lending libraries in the community, weekly book mobile rides into the community, and much, much, more!
