Testing of grade crossing warning and traffic signal equipment at
Airport Boulevard and Shiloh Road
is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2025.
This testing will include the operation of a test train traveling between the area north of Mitchell Lane to the SMART Airport station. The train horn will be in use at Airport Boulevard and Shiloh Road. Testing is anticipated to begin at approximately 3:30 a.m. and conclude by or before 7:30 a.m.
| | | | |
During this time, residents and motorists may see flashing lights and hear audible bells and train horns periodically. Construction personnel will take measures to minimize the duration of the bells as much as possible to limit impacts. Traffic control measures will be in place, allowing vehicles to pass through as directed. Please use caution and follow the directions of traffic control personnel.
| | EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TRAINING | | | | |
Tuesday, August 26, at 6 PM
Windsor Recreation Senior Center
Adele Avenue
Join us for a free emergency preparedness talk. You will go home with tips to be informed, better prepared, and more confident that you know what to do during the next wildfire or earthquake. We will be giving away transistor/NOAA weather radios to residents, one per family, while supplies last.
All Windsor residents and those who work in Windsor are invited - you do not need to be a senior center member or a senior to attend. Sign up through the Senior Center at https://bit.ly/WindsorEmergencyPrep.
Whether you're still learning how to be ready or want a refresher, the talk will have practical tips you can apply, including how your neighborhood can be more resilient.

Why Annual Fire Inspections Matter
Each year, the fire department conducts inspections of Windsor businesses, multifamily dwellings, assisted living facilities, and schools to help keep our community safe. These inspections are designed not only to ensure compliance with fire codes but also to prevent emergencies before they happen. Firefighters look for working fire alarms, properly maintained extinguishers, safe storage of hazardous materials, and clear, accessible exit routes.
| | | | |
One of the most critical parts of an inspection is checking exits. In an emergency, every second counts. Blocked or locked doors, cluttered hallways, or poorly marked exit signs can slow down an evacuation and put lives at risk.
Clear exits ensure that employees, students, and visitors can leave a building quickly and safely if a fire or other emergency occurs.
| | By identifying and correcting hazards early, the fire department helps schools and businesses create safer environments for everyone. Annual inspections are a vital part of making sure our community’s workplaces and learning spaces are well-prepared to protect lives. | | To contact the Mayor or a Councilmember, visit the Windsor Town Council webpage for more information. | | |
