Donnette Hill Walto

Priestess of the Valley

in the Avalon Tradition

Did you know that Solstice means

"Sun standing still"?

Sol = sun, sistre = stand still.

All around the world people are celebrating the longest night in the Northern Hemisphere (the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere).

Image from the Historic England Archives

Our Ancestors looked to these days as sacred markers of time. Communities came together (and still do) to call back the sun, with lanterns, songs, prayers and feasts.

Take a brief gratitude pause in your busy life to honor the Standing Sun and summon It's warmth back as it tilt returns to the northern lands.

Call your friends! Reach out to family. Bring your neighbors.
