EXPECT OVERNIGHT DELAYS ON ROUTE 1 NEAR

QUANTICO NEXT WEEK

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, Route 1 traffic will be reduced to two lanes near Russell Road in Prince William to install new bridge beams over Chopawamsic Creek located in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 1 travelers need to anticipate overnight delays next week near Quantico as construction advances to replace the bridge over Chopawamsic Creek located at the Stafford County and Prince William County line.

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 4 through early Friday, Nov. 6, Route 1 traffic will be reduced to two travel lanes near Russell Road between 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. each evening to allow crews to install bridge beams as part of the project, weather permitting.

If weather postpones work, crews will return to set up the same lane closures on Monday, Nov. 9 through Wednesday, Nov. 11 between 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.

The Interstate 95 ramps at exit 148 (Quantico) to Russell Road will remain open. Russell Road will also remain open.

In Stafford County, the work zone on Route 1 will begin near Telegraph Road and proceed north to Joplin Road in Prince William County. Route 1 southbound travelers approaching Joplin Road will be reduced to one lane then shifted to travel on Route 1 northbound at Russell Road through the work zone.

Message boards are posted to alert drivers to expect delays with the overnight work zone.

Local law enforcement will assist with traffic control.
