Five Year Rule
Working with buyers around Lake Keowee offers new insight into what people are thinking about when they retire. The type of home varies based on finances and other factors, but a term I am hearing more often is that they want a “forever home.” I interpret this as the home where they envision spending their retirement years, creating lasting memories for their families and grandchildren, and gracefully aging in place.
My experience over the last 8 years has made me feel differently about the "forever home". I now like to help my clients think in five year increments. Life is dynamic, and attempting to plan beyond that timeframe can be challenging. Unforeseen circumstances such as health issues, the care of aging parents, the arrival of grandchildren, and other life changes can significantly impact our living situations.
I say pursue your dreams - sooner rather than later, but accept the need to reevaluate as change comes into your life. If the initial five years prove satisfying, then the journey can continue. It's essential for all of us to remain attuned to our priorities as we age, recognizing that some aspects of life are within our control, while others require acceptance and adaptation.
Happy Holidays and Have a Wonderful New Year,
Lynn
