Product Listings
Consumers rely on the GFCO public product list (products.gfco.org) to find certified products that they can rely on to be gluten-free. The information in the public product list is directly ported over from the Compass database. Since this list is meant to be consumer-friendly, it’s important that your product names and information are easily searchable, and are a good match for the product a consumer may be holding in their hand. The two primary keys to this are a clear product name and a product UPC code, both of which match the product labeling. It’s also a great idea to upload a product image in Compass that can display alongside the product listing, as this is the quickest way for a shopper to make a match.
If you use the GFCO mark on single products as well as multi-packs, make sure all versions are listed as products in Compass with their UPC code.
Reminder: Compass Ingredient Data
October 1st, 2026 is the deadline for entering all ingredients into Compass and connecting them to your products. The data from Compass will be the sole source for verifying compliance with requirements 33, 34, 41 and 42 of the GFCO certification Standard during annual audits starting in Q4 of this year. Please refer to the GFCO Standard text at the end of the GFCO Manual to see the exact wording of these requirements.
Actions required:
- Review the Ingredient records in your Compass account.
- Create records for any new or missing Ingredients, including additional suppliers/sources used.
- Review and/or Update Product records to ensure they contain the correct list of associated Ingredients from your Ingredient record collection.
Please reach out to gfco.clientsupport@gluten.org if you have any questions about access to, or use of, Compass. GFCO clients that have received an audit prior to October 1st, and were cited for points 33, 34, 41 and/or 42 will be directed to resolve through updating Compass, though this will not prevent the closure of the audit report. After October 1st, updates in Compass to correct nonconformance will need to be confirmed and reviewed by GFCO to close the report from the above findings.
Proficiency Testing
GFCO’s 2026 proficiency testing round, Wheat Gluten in Baking Mixes, is open for sign-ups. Sample requests may be made up until November 30th, 2026. Samples will be shipped within 2 weeks after we process your payment, and a preliminary report will be issued within 2 weeks after you submit your results. This preliminary report is sufficient to meet GFCO’s requirement 72 for proficiency testing participation.
All samples are shipped from the United States, and if you are outside of the U.S. and opt for US Postal Service (free) shipping, then we recommend that you place your order as soon as possible. USPS shipping to destinations outside of the U.S. can take several weeks, and it is also important to account for any time needed for the shipment to pass through customs. No results can be accepted for the 2026 round after December 31, 2026.
