Newly Elected Councillors


Cumberland City Council is pleased to announce the newly

elected Councillors following the Local Government elections

held on 14 September 2024.


Congratulations to our newly elected Councillors!

An Extraordinary Council meeting to elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor will

be held on Wednesday, 16 October 2024 at 6pm in the Merrylands Council

Chambers. This meeting will commence with the newly elected Councillors

undertaking their Oath or Affirmation of Office.

Native Plant Giveaway


Are you ready to green up your garden and make a difference?


Cumberland City Council will be giving away 1,000 native plants to Cumberland residents, so come and grab 2 FREE native plants per household and help us beautify Cumberland!

Community Garden Open Day


The Wentworthville Community Garden Open Day is returning to Wenty!


Come along and explore the fresh produce and market stalls and browse through trash and treasures.


There will also be fun activities for the little ones to enjoy.

Create Cumberland

Council is holding interactive sessions for the community to seek feedback on the Community Strategic Plan (CSP)


  • Allan G Ezzy Function Centre: Monday 14 October 11am - 2pm
  • Berala Community Centre: Monday 21 October 11am - 2pm
  • Auburn Centre of Community Monday: 28 October 11am - 2pm
  • The Holroyd Centre: Saturday 2 November 11am - 2pm


At each location, the first 50 attendees who complete a survey will receive a FREE ACAI BOWL!


These sessions will allow you to share your thoughts and get involved in the fun activities.

PetFest


Celebrate the return of PetFest this year with Cumberland City Council on Sunday 20 October from 10am to 2pm at Holroyd Gardens in Merrylands which will be transformed into a pet lover’s paradise! Bring your pets and explore top-notch supplies, enjoy thrilling entertainment and pick up tips for responsible pet ownership.

 

There will be FREE microchipping for up to 50 Cumberland City Residents! (Limited to two pets per household).

Diwali Street Festival


The Diwali Street Festival will be returning to the streets of Wentworthville on Saturday 9 November from 5pm to 10pm.


Explore the street bazaar, join in the fun at the Bollywood Block Party, try out the range of South Asian and Indian cuisine and get hands-on with the arts and cultural activities.

Learn to Swim Programs & Active Kids Vouchers


Learn to Swim and Keep Watch programs for all ages are now available at each of the four Swim Centres.


Parents, guardians and carers receiving Family Tax Benefit can apply for an Active Kids voucher for each eligible child. Valued at $50 the vouchers are available twice a year to use towards sport activities, including swimming lessons!


Apply for Voucher 1 and use by 31 December 2024 while voucher two must be used by 14 July 2025.

Household Chemical Cleanout


Drop off your unwanted chemicals at Cumberland City Council's free Household Chemical Clean Out on Saturday 26 October, from 9am - 3:30pm at Cumberland City Council’s Works Depot.


Residents may drop-off household quantities (up to a maximum of 20 litres or kilograms of any single item). For other household waste, residents have access to 4 pre-booked collections per year.

Affordable and Accessible Child Care


Council's long day care centres for children aged 0-5 years are now taking enrolments!


If your child is starting school next year, the State Government's Start Strong Program will provide a discount of up to $42.20 per week, in addition to the Child Care Subsidy, to children in their year prior to school.
