President's Message

Dear Mills Families,

On behalf of the Mills High School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), welcome to the

2026-2027 school year! Our volunteer Board is here to serve and support the students,

parents/guardians, teachers, and staff of Mills High School. This newsletter is intended

to provide you with helpful updates and information during the school year. If you have

any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any of the officers. To learn more

about the PTO and what we do, please visit our website – www.millshspto.org.

If you would like to serve on the PTO, we would love for you to join us! We currently

have open positions for Vice President and Auditor. If you want to learn more about

these positions, please e-mail me at president@millshspto.org and I can share more about the roles and responsibilities. It’s a great way to meet other parents, teachers,

and staff while serving our school and the students.

Mills also has many other parent groups including the Athletic Boosters Committee,

Black Parents Association, Drama Guild, English Learner Advisory Committee, Latino

Parent Group, Mills Musical Arts Group, and School Site Council. See the Mills High

School Parent Organizations page here to learn more about these groups and how you

can be involved.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with any questions and concerns. Wishing

you all a wonderful school year!

Volunteering at Mills

For more information about the clearance process, see the San Mateo Union High School District Volunteering page.

Mills will host a LiveScan Fingerprinting service on Tuesday, August 18th, in the Mills Theatre. Please make sure that you fill out the volunteer paperwork in advance of coming to get the LiveScan fingerprints. LiveScan will conduct fingerprinting from 5:30-8:00 pm.

Suggestions for Drop-Off and Pick-Up

With the busy traffic around the school in the morning and afternoon, the Administration has the following suggestions and guidance for drop-off and pick-up:

• Drop off your student by 8:15 am and pick them up at 4:00 pm. Traffic conditions lighten up considerably at these times.

• Use a drop-off/meet-up spot that is off-campus but near campus (like on Millbrae Ave. near the back of the school athletic complex).

• Use extreme caution in our parking lots.

• Give SMUHSD yellow buses priority.

• Do not park or wait in areas designated as "fire lanes," including the lane on the west side of the building.
