Arcs in Action

Sunview Gym Class Takeover

The Cleveland Browns Stay in the Game! Network, in partnership with Meijer, brought some major excitement to Sunview last week, turning physical education class into a rocking celebration of attendance and teamwork.

The day kicked off with an all-school assembly recognizing Sunview’s strong attendance and reinforcing why showing up all day, every day matters. Students were thrilled when Cleveland Browns players Alex Wright and Isaiah Bond surprised them by joining the celebration!

Four brave students had the chance to ask the players questions in front of the entire school, a moment that showcased confidence and communication skills that will serve them well in the future.

The assembly wrapped up with the presentation of a generous $2,500 donation check to the district from Meijer and the Cleveland Browns Foundation!

Following the assembly, 50 third graders took part in the Gym Class Takeover — an action-packed series of six activity stations focused on teamwork, community, and staying active. Alex and Isaiah even jumped in on the fun, tossing passes and running drills alongside students.

And if all that wasn't enough, two students were surprised with VIP passes to attend an upcoming Browns game!

Every minute counts, and on this exciting day, it truly paid to show up. Thank you to our community partners for making it one to remember!

Strategic Planning - Parent Listening Session

The district is at a pivotal moment as we prepare for the development of a new Strategic Plan for the district. It covers a wide variety of topics that are important to our schools and community – including academics, finances, programming, facilities, technology, culture, and communications.

We want to make sure we are hearing from our main stakeholders, our parents. Your thoughts and opinions are an important part of this process and key to ensuring that we are heading in the right direction.

That is why we are inviting you to attend our upcoming parent listening session on Wednesday, January 28, at 6 p.m. at the Brush Cafeteria. The listening sessions will be facilitated by independent moderators. Everything you say will be kept confidential and will only be used in the context of a summary report. Your name will not be used in the report.

Please RSVP using this Google form.

Thank you for your support and commitment to our schools and the future of our District.

*Due to the timing of this listening session, the previously announced Focus Groups, scheduled for December 1 and 2, will be postponed and rescheduled for a later date.

Olivia's Dream Toy Drive

Olivia's Dream will kick off their 8th Annual Toy Drive on November 14 to continue their mission of spreading joy to children and families in need this holiday season!

Student Safety & Support Lessons

As part of the district’s commitment to student safety and well-being, we continue to implement the instructional requirements of Ohio House Bill (HB) 123 & Senate Bill (SB) 288. This includes the use of SPEAKUP in grades K–12 and Erika’s Lighthouse in grades 6–12. These programs help students learn important skills related to violence prevention, mental health awareness, safe decision-making, and seeking help for themselves or others.

District School Counselors and Social Workers continue to lead this work. Each building’s Student Support Services team has been trained in the curriculum and will deliver the lessons in collaboration with Mrs. Kathy Tomaro, retired School Resource Officer (SRO), who continues to serve the district as a safety consultant. Because the topics covered in these lessons are sensitive and important, we have been intentional in designing a supportive, carefully coordinated instructional plan with appropriate follow-up for any student or family who may need additional assistance.

Looking ahead, we are pleased to share that SROs from both the Lyndhurst Police Department and the South Euclid Police Department will participate in the delivery of this required curriculum. Their involvement will further strengthen our collaborative approach to student safety and support. We appreciate your partnership as we continue this important work on behalf of our students.

Per the district's new policy in alignment with HB8: Parent Bill of Rights, please click here to access the HB8 Annual Notice and Documentation Form. Completing this form allows us to provide your child with support and care throughout the academic year. If you have trouble opening the link, please copy and paste this address https://forms.gle/nQbq9tgA5XotkDkz7 into your browser.

From the PTA

Thank You For Making Our Meal-in-a-Bag Food Drive a Success!

The PTA Council would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our community partners who contributed to our recent Meal-in-a-Bag Food Drive. Because of your generosity, over 200 complete meals were donated. This is an incredible achievement that truly reflects the spirit of our community.

Many of these meals have already been distributed to families and senior residents who have been affected by the government shutdown. Your donations provided comfort, nourishment, and peace of mind during a challenging time, and we are grateful for every person who helped make a difference.

We want the support to continue reaching those who need it most. Several meals are still available, and we want to ensure they are put to good use. If you or someone you know could benefit from a shelf-stable meal, please reach out to one of the school district social workers. Meals are available for pick-up at the Board Office while supplies last.

Once again, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and community spirit. Our Meal-in-a-Bag drive is a reminder that when we come together, we can support one another in meaningful and lasting ways. PTA Council is proud to be part of such a caring school community.
