Lay Leader Insights:

GOD IS EVER-PRESENT

Remember playing hide-and-seek as a kid? Some of us were so good at hiding that we made our seekers give up! Fast forward to adulthood, and we still play hide-and-seek...with God. We hope he won't see when we are gossiping or judging others. Or maybe he’ll turn a blind eye to those times we cheat 'just a little' on our taxes or let our integrity slide.

November Mission of the Month:

CSSH Code Blue

Our mission of the month for November is the Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless (CSSH). CSSH is the nonprofit that runs Code Blue for Central Bucks. Code Blue is a program that offers overnight shelter, dinner, breakfast, and a bag lunch for the homeless in our area. The shelter is open when the temperature is below 28 degrees. Code Blue runs from December to March, with a different church hosting each month. Various local churches also hold monthly meals throughout the year for the homeless in our community. The CSSH opened the doors for 87 nights during the 2025/2026 season and provided shelter to 67 different individuals.

Harvest Home Sunday 2026

Sunday, November 15

Harvest Home services and charitable collections have been an important celebratory tradition in Pennsylvania churches for centuries. Written accounts from Lutheran and Reformed congregations describe harvest services as early as the 1830's (Forrest Moyer, 2019). As an expression of thanksgiving and gratitude to God for the harvest season, we collect food donations to give to local food banks to support families and individuals in need.

We will celebrate Harvest Home Sunday on November 15 this year. Your generous food donations will be split between 3 local food banks: Jesus Focus Ministry Food Pantry at Bethanna, Bucks County Housing Group Doylestown, and New Britain Food Pantry.

Suggested food donations include:

-Fresh Produce: Apples, carrots, celery, cranberries, onions, potatoes, squash, and sweet potatoes.

-Nonperishables: Boxed cornbread mix, boxed pie crust mix, cake mix/frosting, canned corn, canned green beans, canned pumpkin, canned pumpkin pie filling, canned broth, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, gravy, boxed potato flakes, and boxed stuffing mix.

Kindly leave your food offerings on the table in the lobby.

Many thanks from the Missions Committee

Pocono Plateau Broken Crayon Collection

Pocono Plateau is collecting broken crayons to recycle them for children's hospitals.

Instead of letting old, broken crayons end up in landfills—where the petroleum-based paraffin wax takes decades to break down—we gather them to be melted down and remanufactured into brand new crayons.

We partner with a nonprofit organization called The Crayon Initiative.

The newly remanufactured crayons are packaged and donated entirely for free to pediatric wards and children's hospitals across the country. The melted wax is poured into custom molds to create triangular-shaped crayons. These are easier for children with fine-motor challenges to grip, and they won't roll off hospital trays or lap desks while kids are coloring in bed.

If you have old crayons taking up space at home, you can drop them off at the church office to support the initiative!
