Vicar's View
Over the past ten days, traveling through places like Wittenberg and Prague, I found myself returning again and again to one word: perspective. Standing in churches shaped by centuries of prayer and history, I was reminded how young we are; our country, our institutions, even our church as we know it. The Christian story is bigger and older than we often imagine, and it has been marked by both courage and failure. That kind of perspective doesn’t distance us; it invites us to ask what faithfulness looks like for us, here and now.
There was also a more personal shift. Being away from the usual routines—and from the people I love—clarified what truly matters. Things that once felt urgent lost their edge. And yet, at the same time, the small, everyday acts of love and connection felt even more important. We may be small in the grand scheme of things, but how we show up for one another matters deeply.
This Sunday, as we hear Jesus describe himself as the Good Shepherd, we’ll explore how that perspective brings us back, not away from life, but more fully into it. Back to one another. Back to community. Back to the simple, sacred act of showing up. I hope you’ll join us.
I'm glad to be home,
Stewart+

Coro Vocati
May 2, 7:00 PM, Nave
Free - no tickets required.
Some roads are simple stretches of earth; others have been walked for centuries. Dirt Roads and Footpaths draws on both. Our own journeys become a metaphor for life itself: sometimes wandering freely, sometimes called to guide and care for the path so others may follow.
This rich program mirrors those travels of the heart, from John Corigliano’s setting of Fern Hill to works that explore memory, landscape, and the human journey. Performed by Coro Vocati—one of the Southeast’s premier professional choirs—this concert promises both artistry and depth. We’re especially proud that our own Alexis Lundy sings with this ensemble. Come support her and experience an evening that celebrates the beauty, complexity, and shared path of life.
