Emerging Stronger Conversations using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method

"The COVID-19 crisis has brought about changes and challenges for our nation. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for us to reflect and learn from our experience. Join us for a series of conversations to share your hopes for a resilient, post-COVID Singapore society, and how we can work together to create a better future."

The above text is an invitation from the Singapore Together Secretariat when they launched a series of citizen engagement conversations, the "Emerging Stronger Conversations" where citizens register online to participate in these sessions. This is aimed to provide an opportunity for citizens to:
* Reflect on the impact and implications of COVID-19
* Reimagine the Singapore society we aspire to have - priorities, norms, values etc.
* Articulate initial ideas and actions for the way forward

However, there is the challenge to ensure that different segments of the population including low-income families, minority groups and seniors above 50 are well represented. As a response to this, Rasmussen Consulting Singapore initiated the ground-up "Emerging Stronger Conversations using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method". This ground-up citizen participation initiative stems out of our belief that every voice should be heard and WE CARE!

A total of 50 certified facilitators from the LSP Singapore Community volunteered. This will last till end January 2021. As the current regulations only allows 5 people to gather, facilitators are organising sessions across the island, engaging 4 participants at a time - Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents in deeper conversations, talking about the love we have for our SG community, the stories we tell about who we are, what's happened to us, and what we need. We are coming together to share and co-create a resilient, stronger, post-COVID Singapore.

Connect, Construct, Contemplate, Continue = 4Cs
 The 4Cs stand for the science pillars underpinning the 4 step Core Process. I recently experienced that this knowledge was quite beneficial for trained facilitators and that we have been ignoring communicating about this grounding of the Core Process. The conceptualization of the 4Cs dates back to BEFORE the development of the LSP method and was a result of my involvement with LEGO Education and the MINDSTORMS development. It was natural to apply the same underlying learning science to LEGO SERIOUS PLAY.

Looking forward to the New Year and to releasing the "pause" button
 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us - also regarding LEGO SERIOUS PLAY. In the beginning it felt a bit like a "delete button". As the year has progressed your spirit and initiatives have shown that this is not at all the case. It is only a "pause" button. I am convinced that in 2021 the need for the kind of high touch meetings LSP can deliver will increase dramatically.
