יום ראשון א' סיון תשפ"ו
May 17, 2026
Dear Friend שי'
Good Chodesh!!
I hope this letter finds you and your family in the best of health and spirits, surrounded by blessings and joy.
This past week I had the distinct honor and privilege of attending the fourth annual Torah Umesorah School Principals' Conference in Connecticut, USA. It was an extraordinary gathering—deeply energizing, vibrant, and filled with insightful sessions. Beyond the formal program, the spontaneous conversations in the hallways sparked brilliant ideas, and the innovative vendors presented remarkable tools for the future. There is no doubt that an immense amount of enduring good will emerge from the connections forged at this event.
But for my I and my wife, whose invaluable support made this journey possible, the conference was far more than an opportunity to network. It was a grand stage to present a life’s mission. Together, we stood before our peers to share the culmination of my 33 years of dedicated, unwavering labor in the world of school leadership. We were there to present the third edition of our comprehensive guide for school principals—a monumental 1,400-page work—as well as our visionary blueprint for the future: a definitive fourth edition projected to span an unprecedented 7,000 pages.
While the formal presentations and the sheer scale of our future plans generated immense excitement, the true weight of this 33-year journey hit me right at our booth. It came in the form of unique experiences that shook me to the very core, proving that true leadership is ultimately defined by the generational ripples it creates.
The first moment occurred when a fellow vendor walked over to introduce himself. He explained that many years ago, he had served as a school principal. Looking at me, he made a candid and deeply emotional admission:
"Your book for school principals, published 33 years ago—which was just 330 pages back then—was my mentor. I would not have managed without you. I would not have succeeded without your clear guidance. To tell you the truth, for all the students I raised, all the good work, and all the successful outcomes of my career, I give you full credit."
As our conversation continued, the true magnitude of this legacy unfolded. This same principal went on to develop a highly specialized program designed to assist school principals and administrations—a program that is now actively utilized by countless schools across both the United States and Canada.
He looked at me and said, "I got the wisdom and the courage to develop this program from your book. It was your clear guidelines and instructions that showed me such a program could and should be developed. I took your idea, and here we go."
It was a profound and humbling realization that a seed planted over three decades ago had multiplied, inspiring entirely new initiatives that are currently strengthening schools across an entire continent.
Shortly after, a second profound experience moved me just as deeply. Another school principal approached our booth, carrying a precious piece of his own family history. He shared that he had inherited the leadership of his school directly from his father. Along with the heavy responsibility of taking over a student body of 700 boys and girls, came a very specific, treasured inheritance.
Left on his late father’s desk, preserved almost as a sacred final will and testament, was a well-worn copy of my book, The Key to the World of Education.
The principal looked at me and said, "Believe it or not, I studied your book from cover to cover, many times over. It is the blueprint by which I have raised countless students over the last two decades. I can certainly give you the full credit for all of that success."
Standing there in Connecticut, listening to his words, a wave of immense gratitude washed over me. The work done in private decades ago had transcended time. It had been passed down from father to son, shaping the minds of educators I had never met, who in turn shaped the lives of thousands of children. In that moment, I realized that I am standing here knowing that I have virtual, spiritual grandchildren scattered all over the world.
One of the key goals of my recent trip was to explore, research, and better understand what the market currently offers in the field of school leadership and child development.
During the trip, I encountered a vendor offering an interesting and promising program focused on coordinating one-to-one private tutoring for children. The program aimed to bring together the key individuals involved in a child’s academic growth - parents, teachers, school principals, and private mentor—to help guide and support the child.
I complimented the vendor and expressed that it was indeed a wonderful and important initiative. However, I respectfully raised a deeper, more fundamental question: Why stop there? Why not pursue the full picture of what true education must encompass?
Education is not merely about academic performance. Our greatest investment must not only be in a child’s grades, but in the overall welfare of the child—their emotional well-being, social development, character, confidence, life skills, and the nurturing of the child’s soul. And much more!
Throughout an extended and meaningful discussion, we explored what a truly transformative program should include. We spoke about addressing the core, root issues in education and creating a framework that focuses on the complete development of the child—academically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and practically—preparing children not merely for school, but for life itself.
As a result of these discussions, we have decided to explore a strategic partnership between THE LAMPLIGHTER FOUNDATION and this vendor to jointly develop what could become a truly historic and groundbreaking initiative—one that has the potential to bring meaningful, lasting change to our educational system. The vision is simple yet profound: to redefine what educational success truly means and to create a model that supports the whole child in every single dimension of growth.

Looking back on these 33 years of dedication, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude to the Almighty—yet I know that we are truly just at the beginning. What we have achieved so far is merely a drop in the ocean compared to the long, ambitious journey we are planning. We pray that Hashem will continue to grant us the courage, the time, and the energy to move forward. Without a doubt, our future projects will have a transformative impact on the world of school leadership for decades to come.
At this precious milestone, it is my distinct duty and privilege to thank, from the very bottom of my heart, our dedicated Rabbonim, leaders, and philanthropists here in Toronto and across the world. To state the truth clearly: without your beautiful courage and warm, steadfast sponsorship, we would never have been able to achieve what we have accomplished! Your partnership is the fuel that propels us forward as we embark on our newest, massive undertakings for school principals, ministries of education, and beyond.
Thank you!

As we expand, I feel it is deeply important to create a dedicated, prominent space within our upcoming projects—including our newly updated foundation website—where our partners can permanently share in this legacy. Moving forward, our supporters will have the opportunity to dedicate a memorial page to commemorate their loved ones, or to honor their children, families, and grandchildren.
Enclosed, please find a sample dedication layout; please feel free to review it and return it with the specific details and text you would like to see appear on these dedication charts.
Through our shared actions, unity, and loving care for one another, we will light up the world of educational and school leadership in a way the world has never seen before.
As we now approach the beautiful holiday of Shavuos, we are reminded of how this time is directly and intrinsically connected to the ultimate essence of education. When G-d gave us the Torah at Mount Sinai, our children were put forward as our ultimate guarantors. It is the children who ensure our future. In that spirit of sacred transmission and dedication to the next generation, I would like to wish you and your entire family a beautiful, uplifting Good Yom Tov!
קבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות
Sincerely,
Mottel Wechter
