PERSEVERENCE

In the face of unimaginable challenges, the work of HTF and our Haitian partners continues to shine as beacons of resilience and determination. This past month, they have not only kept classrooms open—they have filled them with joy, learning, and the promise of a better future. We are especially proud to celebrate the graduation of 15 remarkable 9th-grade students, a milestone that reflects the determination and commitment of every teacher, student, and family involved. These stories of perseverance are not only inspiring—they are life-giving.

Virtual Visit

It’s no secret that we love Haiti! Over the past 24 years, watching HTF trip participants fall in love with the people of Haiti and come to see them as their brothers and sisters has been a privilege. It’s difficult for us to not be able to travel to Haiti due to gang violence and political instability; we long to be able to visit with our Haitian friends.

Thanks to technology, we’re hoping to virtually visit with women participating in the CLM program on July 15th at 11:30 AM EST!

If you missed our Virtual Visit to Jacmel in June, you can still watch the Lekòl Sen Trinite graduation and visit with Wings of Hope. We loved being able to see the LST graduates and celebrate this monumental accomplishment with them and their families!

FOCUS AREAS

Investing in Children

The school year ended for most students at the end of June! We had the privilege of joining virtually to watch Lekol Sen Trinite's graduation ceremony. Each of the 15 graduates are a miracle! Only 85% of children in Haiti are enrolled in kindergarten due to financial difficulties. By the time primary school ends, only 19% of students reach graduation. Completing primary school in Haiti is worth a celebration, specially with the additional difficulties these students and their families have experiences in the last several years.

A huge thanks to our child sponsors who continue to invest in the education of Haiti's young people! You're making miracles happen.

Developing Leaders

Our partner of over 20 years, Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP) remains committed to creating a community of young professionals and leaders who will promote a more just society in Haiti. And that's never been more important.

One of our HTF sponsored HELP students, Richenide (pictured on the right) shares, "It has always been my dream to study nursing. I feel grateful that, despite the complications and disruptions we are all facing, I am still able to realize this dream." HELP students not only complete their course of study, but they receive training in leadership and citizenship. Richienide talks of the benefit of this, "Because of HELP's additional services, I often feel that I standout as advance in my courses, where I'm learning various methods for patient care and treatment." We're proud of Richenide and our other HELP students; we're grateful for the investment they're making in nourishing the human spirit in Haiti!

Empowering Women

The CLM cohort that began in January 2024 will graduate in the coming months, which means they just participated in the final training - confidence building. It's incredible to know that they have grown to see their own agency in how they've changed their lives. The CLM program is helping women build the power to shape their own futures and better their families and communities!

Edouarin (pictured on the left) and her husband, Vercius, have a large family. She recently started the CLM program and her hopes of generating income include raising livestock, including goats and starting a small commerce. She believes that through completing the CLM program, she will be able to afford to send her children to school. Edouarin says, "I do not ever want the children to have to sit at home again. I want them to always be able to go to school."

THANK YOU to our

Congregation Partners!

We're continually humbled by the congregations across the country who support our mission!

This month, our founding congregation, Abiding Hope (Littleton, CO) is inviting their faith community to provide urgent relief through HTF's long-term partners through Nourish Haiti Now.

Sheridan Lutheran Church (Lincoln, NE) is facilitating a special appeal to fund high school students in our Living Faith program. The generosity of Sheridan Lutheran enabled HTF's In-Country Director to begin this program by funding the first 4 Living Faith students who graduated from high school in 2023! The program has now grown to 27 students!

We are grateful for the investment that these faith communities are making in Haiti. Together we are cultivating hope and transforming lives!

With radical hope,

Cultivating hope. Transforming lives.
