On the Pocatello Idaho State University (ISU) campus, you may have noticed a patch of lawn by the Fine Arts building that is not being mown. This is part of a project hosted by ISU Department of Art and artist Brian D. Collier, Professor of Art & Design at Saint Michael's College, Vermont.

Neelam Sharma Fellowship

Dr. Neelam Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Persuasion, has been awarded a Senior Research Fellowship (2023-2025) by the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) to carry out research for her book titled, “Online hatred, abuse, and women journalists in the era of digitalization in India: Opportunities and Challenges.”


The book will include women journalists’ in-depth interviews, survey responses, and an analysis of their social media posts.


Dr. Sharma's forthcoming book is under contract with Peter Lang Publishers as a part of the prestigious and highly competitive AEJMC-Peter Lang Scholarsourcing series. This book proposal was one of the two proposals that was offered a book contract following peer feedback by the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) review committee in 2022.

Dr. Sarah Ebel Fellowship

Congratulations to Sarah Ebel, PhD on being selected as a Fulbright Scholar! She will be teaching and conducting research at la Universidad Austral de Chile for part of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Congratulations to faculty member, Jona Jacobson, DSW, LCSW from the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology. Over the summer Governor Little appointed Jona to the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance.

Visiting Fulbright Doctoral Researcher from Czech Republic


The Department of English and Philosophy welcomes Fulbright Doctoral Researcher Barbora Kaplánková, from the Czech Republic (or Czechia). Ms. Kaplánková is a Ph.D. candidate in Theory and History of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television at the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Palacký University, Olomouc. Kaplánková, who will be in residence at ISU for fall 2023, is researching depictions of masculinity and femininity in fantasy film franchises. She will be working closely with Professor Emeritus Brian Attebery, a specialist in fantasy literature.

Faculty Member Book Publication

New faculty member in the Department of Global Studies and Languages, José Eduardo Villalobos Graillet, has published the book, "La Celestina" and film: censorship and reception.


The book sheds light on how extra-cinematographic factors (like production and censorship processes) in Spanish TV and film affected the realization and critical reception of adaptations of one of the most canonical works of Spanish literature.

Job Opportunity: Work with the ISU Sports Video Crew



This team of students and professionals streams all of ISU's football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and track/field events to ESPN+. 


You will learn how to handle a camera during live sporting events, and if you stick with the team long enough, you can pick up experience in special effects and directing, as well. You will be able to put that you worked with ESPN and Disney Streaming Services on your resume. The hourly pay for this position starts at $15.00.
