A Message From Our CEO

October is an important time for action and reflection at the Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center (RARCC) as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and healing to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, recognizing that these forms of violence are often interconnected. At RARCC, we work to break the cycle of abuse by creating a compassionate and inclusive community that stands in solidarity with survivors and works to end gender-based and intimate partner abuse. Our commitment is to empower those affected and to foster a safer, more supportive environment for our Riverside Community.

This month, we are shining a light on the urgent need for greater awareness, education, and resources for those impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. These forms of violence affect entire families, neighborhoods, and communities, leaving behind deep harm that we must all work together to heal. At RARCC, we believe that using our collective voice, power, and action can make a meaningful difference in preventing violence and supporting survivors. As always, RARCC remains a steadfast source of hope, providing free and confidential services to survivors, their families, and loved ones—ensuring that no one has to navigate this journey alone.

To further our mission, we have organized a series of events throughout October to empower our community to stand against violence. From educational workshops and survivor panels to community walks and outreach events, we create spaces where dialogue, learning, and healing are possible. We encourage everyone to get involved, whether through participation in our events, sharing resources, or spreading the word about the importance of addressing and ending intimate partner and gender-based violence in Riverside County.

Together, we can build a safer and more supportive community. We invite you to join us throughout this month to raise awareness, offer hope, and help us in our mission to end the violence that affects so many lives. For more information, check out our full calendar of events and learn how you can contribute to RARCC's life-saving mission.

Peace,

Adriane Lamar Snider and The Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center Team

Mission Moments

Celebrating this milestone at the White House was deeply meaningful for our agency. The progress that VAWA represents aligns closely with our mission of empowering survivors, raising awareness, and fostering community-based support systems.

President Biden Invites Our CEO to the White House!

We are proud to share that our CEO, Ms. Adriane Lamar Snider, was personally invited by President Biden to the White House to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). This honor acknowledges her incredible dedication—over four decades of commitment—to supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.

The Violence Against Women Act, first passed in 1994, has been a landmark piece of legislation aimed at providing comprehensive support and protection for survivors of violence. VAWA has not only strengthened laws to protect victims but also funded essential services to help them rebuild their lives.

Community Education:

Teaching Internet Safety to Families with Jurupa Unified School District

Last month, we partnered with Jurupa Unified School District for an exciting session of their "Protecting Our Youth" series, diving into the essential topic of internet safety with district families. Together, we explored what internet safety means and why it’s so important—covering everything from protecting against online predators, scams, and identity theft to safeguarding personal information. We also unpacked what cyberbullying is, how it affects children, and the best ways to report it. Families took part in engaging activities, lively discussions, and impactful videos, all designed to highlight the dangers and empower participants with practical safety tips

At the end, families took their dedication a step further by signing our agency-provided Internet Safety Pledges, committing to a safer online experience. We’re thrilled to offer workshops like this as part of our child abuse prevention and education programs, building a stronger, safer community one step at a time!
