The Bread of Life

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:35).

The crowd followed Jesus after he fed the five thousand. They were looking for a miracle, like Moses and the manna in the desert. The Lord underscored his point: what they are eating isn’t what they truly needed. He is the one that will satisfy their spiritual hunger. All they needed to do was believe.

Apply it in prayer: Father, your son made it clear – he is the bread of life. I can’t reach heaven on my own – only through him. My salvation is the miracle I need to prove you are who you say you are. Thank you for your gift of Jesus.
