Significance of Arafah in Islam by Karen Rios

During the last Hajj of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, on the Day of Arafah, Allah ﷻ revealed this powerful verse:

“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.” — Qur’an, Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:3)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ described this day as one of immense forgiveness and mercy, which for the non-pilgrims fasting on it is strongly recommended.

"Expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year." — Sahih Muslim 1162
