Fridays in Lent

5pm Healing Prayer Service

5:30pm Stations of the Cross

Fridays at 5pm during Lent, gather for a Healing Prayer service in the sanctuary. It's an opportunity to lift up our prayers and concerns in a quiet early-evening space. At 5:30pm, walk the Stations of the Cross, remembering Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

This Lent, set aside time each Friday to come and pray together. All are welcome. More information at saintaidans.org/lent-and-holy-week

The week between Palm Sunday and Easter Day is a journey we take through the moments of Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection. There is no week like this in our year, and it is worth taking your time to participate and come to services.

Friday, April 18, 5:30pm Holy Week with Kids

One service in particular to note: At 5:30pm on Good Friday, we’ll have a special time with kids to observe, in a kid-friendly way, the moments of Holy Week. This will take less than an hour. Grownups are welcome, too.

Opportunity to give or make altar flower arrangements for Palm Sunday and Easter Day

Do you like to arrange flowers? Can you make a special gift to St. Aidan's for Palm Sunday or Easter Day? We are looking for people to provide flowers for the altar for special days. Donors can either order from a florist and arrange for delivery the Friday before or (preferably) purchase flowers from the grocery store and use 2 of our vases at St. Aidan's to create matching arrangements ready for Sunday morning. If you're able to do this for 1 or both Sundays, please reach out to Kim Keffeler or the church office. Reimbursement is available, or this flower offering can be your donation.

Another opportunity is to make a memorial or thanksgiving donation for the Easter altar flowers. These gifts are a beautiful way to honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion. Your name and dedication will be included in the Easter bulletin. To make a memorial donation, please use the online form or fill out the document at church. All memorials are due by MONDAY, April 14, at 12noon.

A Faithful Exploration of AI & Christian Ethics

Sunday Morning Coffee Hour Series

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, decision-making, and language processing. No longer a distant concept, AI is now part of daily life: shaping industries, influencing public discourse, and raising complex ethical questions. How does faith guide us to grapple with the ethics of AI?

St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church is talking through a five-week Coffee Hour series exploring the intersection of AI and Christian Ethics. We will look at Scripture, have conversations, and hear a case study: AI’s role in journalism and communication. Join a timely conversation about living faithfully in a world transformed by AI.

  • Grappling with AI through Scripture - March 9
  • Foundations of Ethics - March 16
  • Applying Christian Ethics to AI - March 23
  • Case Study of AI and Media Communication Part 1 - March 30
  • Case Study of AI and Media Communication Part 2 - April 6

Bible (and Book) Study: The Difficult Words of Jesus

March 31 and April 7, 5:30pm on Zoom

How do we make sense of Jesus' most perplexing words? Join Mother Amanda for a six-session Bible study through the book, "The Difficult Words of Jesus: A Beginner's Guide to His Most Perplexing Teachings," by Amy-Jill Levine. We will engage with Scripture, watch short video teachings from the author, and reflect on what these challenging sayings mean to us today.

Each session will meet on Zoom on Mondays, 5:30-7:00pm. Attend one of the final two sessions! This Bible Study is only being offered synchronously (no recording) because conversation is key.

  • February 24, 5:30pm, Sell What You Own
  • March 3, 5:30pm, Hate Father and Mother
  • March 10, 5:30pm, Slave of All
  • March 17, 5:30pm, Nowhere Among the Gentiles
  • No session over CU's spring break!
  • March 31, 5:30pm, Outer Darkness
  • April 7, 5:30pm, Your Father, the Devil

You're encouraged to read the book chapter (about 12 pages a week) before the session, but no pre-reading is required. Have your Bible with you and a willingness to wrestle with the hard things Jesus said together.

If purchasing the book is a challenge, please email Mother Amanda. We have a few copies available in the church office.

Book Group meets every Wednesday at 10am on Zoom

St. Aidan's book group will begin reading Candide by Voltaire, translated from the French, starting April 2. Our convener, Jim Pain, has suggestions on getting a suitable translation to use with the group.

You are welcome to join the group and begin this book together. Email us to let us know you're interested, and we'll get you connected with the group and the Zoom link.
