Happy Khmer New Year

Celebrating Khmer New Year, families spend time together and visit the temples. In the words of our Operations Manager, Nue Gnab:

I would like to say the Khmer wishing words following our culture during special events like Happy Khmer New Year. We wish you have health, longevity, prosperity, and success and safety. May the new angel take care of you and your loved ones every time and everywhere.

Scholarship Students Married

Peang Yat met her husband, Prak Chenhong, when they were both studying nursing in Battambang. They were in the same class and studied together for 3 years, developing a deeper relationship. I saw his character as very kind and friendly.

In the past 3 years he has always been supportive of my studying and internships at hospitals. When he saw me walking to school, he always asked if I wanted to ride his motorbike.

After graduating, we both went to work at a hospital voluntarily for our first job experiences. After working together for half a year, he started confessing that he had a long-standing love for me but didn't dare to tell me. We decided to get married after a year of dating and parents approval. And now we are working together in Pursat province.

Peang Yat’s education was sponsored by Louise Williams.

Hout Em was also sponsored by Louise Williams and studied Business Administration. She works as Librarian and English teacher at a private school.

I first met Keala Sokol at a party in the village where I lived. Then he asked for my phone number from my uncle and called me, but I didn't respond, because I was in grade 12 and didn't want to have a relationship during my school years.

After graduating from high school, I continued my studies at the university in Siem Reap. Coincidentally, he also worked opposite the high school, then we started dating until we saved some money and bought some materials for our future life together. After graduating from college in 2024 we got married on March 9, 2025.

The reason I chose him as my husband is because he is honest with me, has a mature mind, and has a clear career in electrostatics. Finally, I would like to thank the CCDO for helping to promote Cambodian youth to learn deeply and have good jobs, other orphans who cannot afford to continue their studies like me.

I especially thank you for helping Cambodians understand hygiene in their lives. Finally, I wish you and all the donors good health, safe travels, and a happy Khmer New Year.

Digital Literacy

We are so impressed witnessing the professional growth of Cambodian rural teachers. Particularly in the relatively new area of technology. Our classes on digital literacy are very popular with high attendance and engagement. When we first started our work 15 years ago nobody but a principal would have a computer.

Now many teachers are investing their hard earned wages into laptops and learning to use them as administrative and even teaching tools. The program is sponsored by Bastion Foundation and over the past 3 years, we have trained over 2,193 teachers to competently use MS Office, Excel Spreadsheets, Telegram, email and other programs.

Visitors

Thanks to visitors Jane Brazier and Jonathan Jones from the UK who were very impressed with our Education program at TaPang school. They interacted with the students and were amazed by their skills. Jonathan is a doctor and was pleased to hear of our Health in School program with medical checkups of the kids and workshops given to the parents on nutrition and first aid. This program is sponsored by the Texel Foundation.
