Because Lutherans like bustling spaces: it is exciting to see the sanctuary being used with frequency after such a long pause. In addition to Sunday morning services, online services are pre-recorded there each Wednesday. Small groups have resumed meeting in the intimate transcepts. Day School kids stream in and out for Chapel in the nave. The pews are being cleaned and cared for (Thank you Pauline!) between every gathering. There is a brightness (Thank you Property Stewards!) that makes the place once again alive and welcoming. We are better together.

Please join us Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

We have resumed in-person services in the sanctuary. Covid-19 safety protocols still apply. To best love and protect all our neighbors, masks and social distancing are required while in the church building. The congregation will be invited to sing during worship while masked.

NEEDED:
HOME COMMUNION & CARE FACILITY WORSHIP LEADERS
Area nursing homes and care facilities are slowly welcoming back visitors. We can also begin home communion again with safety protocols. This is exciting news for our Home and Care Facility Ministry! Pastor John is eager to resume monthly worship services and communion for these communities.
We are planning and scheduling now. Training and supplies are available. If you are interested in starting or continuing either of these important ministries for our members at home or in care facilities, please contact the church office, or Visitation Pastor John Van Deusen at 830-305-5656. Call or Text.

New Member Welcome: If you, or you and your family, are interested in joining us in the mission and ministry here at Emanuel’s, you are invited to reach out to Pastor Marcus for a conversation of welcome.
Our next Sunday to receive new members is Sunday, May 30th. This special service will include a welcoming liturgy, a time to be recognized and prayed for by the congregation, and, tentatively, a time for potluck following worship in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Marcus can be reached at: pastormarcus@elcseguin.org or 830-377-8643.

STORIES OF HOPE
Our year of being an intentional church began with the new year, celebrating people of color, and women of history. As April is now upon us, we turn to a celebration of hope and begin with stories of hope and joy.
Join us weekday evenings throughout the month of April on Facebook or YouTube for stories that will make you smile, stories that bring you joy, and stories that will encourage you to listen and see the world through hope-filled eyes! The story below, set to premier on Friday evening, centers on Romans 5:3-5. It is a personal story shared by Kolleen Kallus and is entitled, "Hope: A Personal Story."

Following the incredible work done with the redevelopment of the strategic plan, Emanuel's Congregation Council has lifted up four areas of focus for the next two years to help us achieve the vision of our plan. These teams are: Outreach & Service, Education, Congregation Care, and Stewardship.
Over the next few weeks, as assigned Council members better define and plan the scope of each team for the next year, you will be invited to join the work of these teams at their monthly meetings. Be on the lookout for meeting times, location, and scope of work for each team!

HYMNAL HELP NEEDED
What do double-stitch binder tape, adhesive, weights, and rubber bands have in common? They’re all used in book repair! We’ve got 169 hymnals in need of some TLC. If you are interested in this hands on project, let Pastor Kelsie know. A date to begin repairs will be set when supplies arrive and happy, book-binding volunteers are available.

COUPLES NIGHT OUT
Our next Couple’s Night Out will take place on Saturday, May 22nd at 6:30pm. We are headed to Stumpy’s Hatchet House, 758 Isom Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216. If you would
like to carpool, a group will be leaving from the Mountain Street parking lot at 5:30pm. Food options are pretty limited, and you are allowed to bring your own drinks (but NOT your own hatchet!), so we will plan on grabbing a bite afterwards for anyone who wishes to join us. That location will be decided at Stumpy’s.

Christian Education opportunities are in development for both Sunday mornings at 9:15 and midweek studies. Please stay tuned while we roll out programs for children and adults. It is a challenge as we return from our lengthy time apart to coordinate volunteers, physical space, and curriculum. Emanuel's Office Staff is working both at the office and at home. Our schedules are staggered so that someone is in the office Mondays through Thursdays from 8-5. It is best to make an appointment or call before coming in. Everyone is still accessible via email and phone.
Did you know that Wednesday, April 21 was National Administrative Professionals Day? Well, neither did Sherry. It was quite the surprise to be thanked by the Emanuel's staff. Great group of people working behind the scenes every day at the church.
