Congratulations Dara Mathis on winning the American Mosaic Journalism Prize awarded by the Heising-Simons Foundation. Dara, an Alkebulan alumna, is a writer and journalist whose work examines parenthood, identity, and linkages to Black memory. Her January 2023 article for The Atlantic, “A Blueprint for Black Liberation,” draws from personal experience growing up in a commune to illuminate a broader social history of Black Nationalist communal experiments.

RE-IMAGINING BCN

As we initiate a formal process for re-imagining BCN, it must begin with a well-developed succession plan that can effectively support the institutional framework and broad scope of our organization. It must include a method to regularly assess our operations, program, and mission as they intersect with our core values, theology, theory, and practices. Let YOUR voice be heard by participating in a brief questionnaire to share YOUR vision of BCN re-imagined.
