THE WEEK AHEAD

This Saturday, June 27, Trinity is hosting a benefit concert for the Arcadia Project. It's a good cause, so come as you are able. Ticketing info below.

This Sunday at 9:15, we'll wrap up our book group on John Fea's Was America Founded as a Christian Nation. Even if you haven't read the book, you are more than welcome to attend!

We're coming up on the end of the month! Please register now for the Shrine Mont Parish Retreat — more info and registration link below.

TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE PARISH RETREAT!

Join us for a weekend away in the Shenandoah Valley. From Friday afternoon through Sunday lunch, we'll eat together, wander outside, sing, talk, dance, and gather around the campfire.

There are adult choir rehearsals, prayer and worship with our clergy, and plenty of free time to use as you like. You might hike up to the cross, claim a rocking chair and read a book, play a board game, or find yourself in an impromptu group activity. Parishioners from St. John's, Waynesboro will be retreating at Shrine Mont the same weekend, and we're glad to be sharing the place with them. We have two large meeting rooms reserved, so there will be plenty of flexible meeting space. Childcare will be available Saturday morning and afternoon.

All are welcome! Families, newcomers, longtime parishioners, we’d love to spend the weekend with you. Financial support is available. Sign up at this link by July 1.

Have a skill you'd like to share? Yoga, a craft, something else entirely? Reach out to Kristin Reichert at reedsong2012@gmail.com.

TRINITY AT THE FOUNDING AND ON THE FOURTH

This year the nation turns 250 and Trinity turns 280, and the two stories have been intertwined from the start. We're marking the Fourth with a weekend of worship, music, history, and ice cream!

Last year, Trinity received a $516,000 grant from the Virginia 250 Preservation Fund. The grant asked the parish to raise $345,000 in matching funds, but Trinity decided to meet the state's generosity with its own and set a goal of $516,000, dollar for dollar. Through the Generation to Generation campaign, the congregation responded with characteristic generosity, going further still. Pledges reached $842,017, well past even that raised bar, and $594,634 has already been fulfilled. The result is a year of significant restoration across Trinity's historic site: brick walls and fences repaired, the church tower freshened, an accessible bathroom added, new drainage installed, and more still underway.

Saturday’s concert brings Virginia Bolena, Joel VanderZee, and Jonathan Bolena together for patriotic favorites on organ and piano, closing with an organ duet of Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever. On Sunday morning, Bill Frazier and Tom Howell trace Trinity’s place in the founding era, from the 1763 church foundation to the Augusta Resolves of 1775 to the 1781 General Assembly that met here at Augusta Parish. Full schedule above.

TRINITY GAME NIGHT

Friday, July 10 at 6 pm in the Parish House. Pizza and snacks are on us. Bring a game if you have a favorite you'd like to share, but no need, we'll have plenty on hand. The more people who turn out, the more tables we can get going at once, so bring a friend and come ready to play. All ages welcome.

SUMMER FORMATION CONTINUES

Beginning July 12, coffee and conversation groups return to the 9:15 hour for the rest of the summer. Small groups will dig into the Sunday lectionary and get to know one another better over coffee and cookies. The nursery is open from 9 am if you have little ones. No sign-up needed, just drop in whenever you can.
