Celebrating a Strong Start

Our team effort to start this school year off strong is paying off with established routines, steady attendance, and early success in the classroom. Showing up ready to learn gives our kids the confidence they need to thrive, and we couldn't be prouder of the commitment of our students, staff, and families!

Showing up ready is where it begins.

If your family ever needs support or resources to help overcome obstacles to regular attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school attendance designee.

We have an Action Plan for School Absences!

Absences happen. When they do, be sure to turn in an excuse.

Parents may provide up to 5 parent-written excuses per semester. If a student is ill for multiple consecutive days, the entire period should be counted as one single excuse. Three or more consecutive days absent requires a medical excuse from a doctor.

Happy Constitution Day!

Today, September 17th, we commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and celebrate the rights and responsibilities that connect us as citizens.

A special thank you to the honorable Blair Edwards, a life-long resident of Tangipahoa Parish, who currently serves as Judge of the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal for her special presentation to the students of Mr. Griffin's class at Independence High Magnet School. Students participated in an interactive discussion about the importance of the Constitution and how the students can use their voices to shape the future of their communities.

The First Day of Fall is
Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Important Law Regarding Marijuana in Schools

Under a new Louisiana law, possessing or using marijuana or THC vape pens on school property, buses, or within 2,000 feet of a school is now a felony punishable by up to a year in prison. Because these severe criminal charges are entirely separate from school suspension or expulsion, parents are strongly encouraged to talk with their children to help them avoid life-altering legal consequences.
