A Note

from Jodi

Welcome to our newsletter for tourism businesses in Harford County! As the tourism manager of Hello Harford, I am excited to help promote your business in our community and beyond our borders.

This monthly newsletter will offer tips and best practices for attracting visitors, connections to resources and training, and keep you informed about our efforts to bring tourism dollars to your bottom line.

I’ve been reaching out directly to many of you, but please feel free to contact me to arrange a meeting. I welcome your ideas, and I want to be the best resource and advocate that I can be for Harford County tourism. We also want to share in recognizing your big milestones. If you have a big anniversary, you are celebrating this year; please send me an email.

See you soon!

No-Cost Tech Tools to Boost Your Business

Harford County has invested in two online tools for venues and event organizers to better understand and reach their customers. Placer.Ai provides reports that helps to analyze foot traffic and traveler behavior, which can enhance your marketing efforts. We are also sharing Let’s Rallie, an app that works best for large events.

If you would like to learn more about either of these tech tools, available at no cost to you, send us an email!

Pro-tip of the Month

Updating your Google business listing is another free way to highlight your business and everything you have to offer visitors. An accurate listing with engaging photos will drive more traffic your way, move you up on internet searches, promote better reviews, and tell customers that your business is active and reliable. Check your Google listing by searching your business by name and claim the listing as the “owner.” Make sure all the listing information is correct and add photos “by owner” to best feature your property.

Venue Spotlight

Rockfield Manor

Congratulations to Rockfield Manor on their major renovation! Owned by the Town of Bel Air and supported by the Rockfield Foundation, this event venue’s recently completed upgrade included replacing their temporary tent-like structure for weddings and other events with a permanent, climate-controlled addition, offering protection from the elements and soundproofing.

Does your business have an update to share for a future edition? Send us an email!

Shine on Social

We are always looking for images to post on social media to help support local tourism. Each social media post is a chance to say, “Look what’s waiting for you in Harford County!” - so more is always better. Consider submitting photos or flyers of your business or event so we can post them on our page and tag you, and feel free to tag us @HelloHarford.

Sign Up for Greater Exposure

Did you know? We provide local hotels with a monthly calendar of events to use as a concierge tool; we also give hotels these “happy you are here” business cards for their guests. The cards have a QR code that brings visitors to the Hello Harford website promoting all the attractions, restaurants, and events in the county. If you’re not listed on our website or calendar, sign up today to help new customers find you!

Future Focus

We’re working to grow your future business and audience by targeting corporate groups and leisure travel through advertising and networking. We’re also developing opportunities for you to highlight your business with free tabling at events and to facilitate collaboration with your fellow tourism stakeholders. Stay tuned!
