Pastor Trudy's Message

The mystery of the Holy Trinity! One whole weekend of worship offered up to a doctrine which, honestly, when we try to explain it, we usually end up proclaiming something that was a heresy in the early church. Like Nicodemus who comes to Jesus in the middle of the night to get some clear explanation, we are uncomfortable with stepping in to a mystery. Let's see if we can resist the temptation to explain and join the dance of the Trinity this weekend!  

Holy One, Holy Three, You show us what it means to be in relationship, to move and dance in the mystery of Your work in the world and invite us to join You. Help us to accept the invitation! In Jesus' name, Amen.

• Bless your family of faith with gifts of cooperation and graciousness. Increase our hospitality toward all expressions of faith and teach us to honor our shared humanity.
• Sustain fragile and interconnected ecosystems, that they flourish for generations to come.
• Quiet the hearts of all who struggle with shame, regret, or questions of self-worth. Teach us to forgive ourselves and one another. Restore wholeness to all who seek hope and healing.
• Give your blessing of peace to the nations. Shelter all who risk life and livelihood to protect others from violence, conflict, and injustice. On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember those who have lost their lives in war and conflict.

Although Sunday school is done for the program year, the fun is not! There are lots of opportunities to engage as a family at GLC this summer:

• Camp Day! Kids entering kindergarten through 5th grade can join us on Sunday, June 16 during 10:30AM worship in Fellowship Hall for games, a snack and fun.
• The Nursery will be open for both Sunday services all summer long! Preschool aged children are welcome to join during summer Sundays (through 4 years old)
• Swedish Pancake breakfast, Saturday, June 22, 8AM until the batter runs out!
• Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Day Camp (rising 1st-5th graders): July 10, Click HERE to register!
• All Faith's Night at the Kane County Cougar's game on July 12. Click HERE to buy tickets.
• Pack at Northern Illinois Food Bank on July 23 from 9-11:30 am. Contact Martha Sobie to volunteer!

The last High School Youth Group meeting is Sunday, June 2 at 9:45AM between services in the Youth Room. There will breakfast treats! 🍩

🎓 We will also be recognizing our high school graduates at all services that weekend.
