Spring is practically in the air! Today we have added over 50 new items to our stock including some treasures which speak for themselves. Of particular interest is a Songye slaver’s axe. There is considerable misinformation about the practice of slavery. In Africa, slavery goes back millennia, to the ancient Egyptians. Slavery was widespread in ancient Greece, Rome and other cultures. The African slave trade continued after slavery was abolished in the US, providing workers for the growing agricultural industry in South America as well as the Arab world in the East. As well, slaves were retained by their captors for their own use.
