Historical Tidbit:

History of D.W Field Park

D.W Field Park is between Pond Street (Avon) and Pleasant Street (Brockton). It is a 650-acre park. It is long and narrow and has three primary organizing elements which include a chain of seven water bodies, a six mile circuit drive or parkway that loops around these water-bodies, and a woodland establishing boundary between the parkway and outside perimeter.

The park is located in the northern section of Brockton which is known as Montello. The name comes from the Italian word, it means high plain.
The park was constructed between 1925 and 1930s. It was a philanthropic gift from prominent Brockton businessman and entrepreneur Daniel Waldo Field hence D.W Field Park. Daniel Waldo Field had no children so he considered the park a gift that could contribute to the future of his community.

Climate Can Do:
The Buy Nothing Project

The BN project exists to trade goods freely without purchasing them. Less of our earth's resources are used if we share what we already have. Less items like furniture, clothes, housewares and sporting goods end up in landfills. Over 6 million people around the world are in the Buy Nothing movement! Download the free app and within minutes, you can Give, Ask, and share your Gratitude with your neighbors. It's instant and easy.

What goods can you give on Buy Nothing?: Anything someone else may want. Maybe you have a perfectly good chair to get rid of? You can list it on the BN app, and someone will take it. Do you see something you like, get in touch with the person who posted it, and it can be yours.
What is a Buy Nothing Community?: A BN community is the people around you. There are BN Communities in Bridgewater, Brockton, East / West Bridgewater combined one, as are Halifax & Hanson. Find the community that's right for you.

Donate to the Project: Loving the money you are saving? Contribute here. Helping removes trash from the environment. The longer an item can remain out of a landfill, the better. The BN Project is run by donations by the community and sponsors. Buy Nothing Project is fiscally sponsored by Angels for Angels, a 501(c)(3), Donations are tax-deductible.

Getting involved: If you want to join, you can download the app on your phone or computer from the app store. Anything else you'd like to know? buynothingproject.org

Emergency Shelter Glow-Up
"On this year’s United Way of Greater Plymouth County Day of Caring Event, Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS) enjoyed having the fantastic volunteer group from Ocean Spray at Conway House, FBMS’ family emergency shelter. The group of 11 moved and reorganized the house’s supplies for residents – diapers, toiletries, linens, clothing, backpacks, and more. Additionally, the team made a thoughtful donation of new storage boxes and shelving that will come in handy to organize items better. What a phenomenal way of supporting our mission; we are so grateful for your generosity of time and support. " Reposted from Father Bill and MainSpring on Facebook

Nurturing.

"I think we need the feminine qualities of leadership, which include attention to aesthetics and the environment, nurturing, affection, intuition and the qualities that make people feel safe and cared for." ~ Deepak Chopra

"Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family." ~ Virgina Satir

"For me, living a balanced life means nurturing the academic, physical, and spiritual aspects of my life so I can maintain a sense of well-being and self-esteem." ~ Denise Morrison

Woman, man or LBGTQ. Adult, child or anywhere in between; we all need to be nurtured. We nurture each other and ourselves.
This is how, like all living organisms, with the correct mix of conditions and nutrients, we grow and thrive.

Our whole self needs it: our mind, our physical & our spiritual / emotional selves. When one of these are not tended, it effects the functioning of the whole.

This is the science of the whole self. And it's not new, ancient cultures have been working at the cultivation of the mind / body / spirt for thousands of years.

I would consider this, as an adult, our most important job. When we are nurtured, and balanced, we are intentional, stronger, more effective. This isn’t selfishness. It is how to give the most to each other and society.

Nurture your whole self this week. Grow well. : ) ~ Jacquie
