Boulder City Council Meeting Tonight!

Facebook  Youtube

Dear Members and Friends of First Congregational Church,

Tonight, the Boulder City Council will hold its public hearing on the proposed sale and development of the Spruce Street parking lot. We are writing one more time to invite you to make your voice heard.

The City Council meeting begins at 6:00 p.m., with public hearings beginning at 7:00 p.m.The Spruce Street parking lot is scheduled to be the third public hearing of the evening. The first two hearings are expected to be brief.

If you have not yet taken action, there are three important ways you can help:

1. Sign the petition.

If you have not yet signed the petition opposing the sale of the Spruce Street parking lot, please consider doing so and sharing it with others. Sign the petition

2. Contact City Council.

If you have not yet sent a message to City Council, please take a few minutes to do so. Your message does not need to be long. A few sentences about why this parking lot matters to you, to First Congregational, or to our broader community can make a difference. You can contact City Council through the City's online public comment portal here: Contact City Council

3. Attend tonight's hearing.

If you are able to attend in person, please do. Several members of our congregation have signed up to speak, and we would appreciate your support. Showing up is in itself a strong witness.

In person: The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building, 1777 Broadway, Boulder.

Online: You can also watch the meeting through the City's livestream.

We also invite you to read an eloquent letter from Ed Byrne, chair of our Facilities Committee.

The Spruce Street lot is more than a place to park. It is part of the community infrastructure that makes possible the life of First Congregational and the many organizations, programs, and people who depend on our building and its accessibility.

We are grateful to everyone who has already written, signed the petition, spoken publicly, or otherwise shared their concerns. Tonight is another important opportunity for us to make a witness.

With gratitude for our life together,

Rev. Christina Braudaway-Bauman, Senior Minister

Rev. Linda Kowatch, Associate Minister
