General Meeting Update
Thank you to all who attended our virtual General Meeting on April 20th. We are pleased to announce the election of Nora Koros to the Board of Directors.
Nora recently retired as manager for Vancouver Coastal Health of Mental Health & Addictions and Public Health. Nora and her husband moved to Powell River in 1985 to become Group Home Parents. The intention was to stay a year but they loved the community so much they put down roots and raised their daughter.
Throughout her 42 year career as a Registered Psychiatric nurse she worked in all areas of mental health both in institutional settings and the community and with all age groups. She had many opportunities to support patients and their families as they moved into their final stage of life. Nora has been an advocate of having important conversations with family and friends about death and dying and the need for advocacy and support throughout this stage.
Nora is an active volunteer with the Health Care Auxilliary, SPCA and Faith Lutheran Church and enjoys cooking, knitting, camping and spending time with family, especially her new grandson.
