Uniform Reminder

September 30, 2026

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As we settle into the new school year, we want to thank you for your continued partnership in creating a positive, focused learning environment for all students.

To help our students stay on track and maintain pride in our school community, I would like to gently remind everyone about the uniform and appearance guidelines:

  • Necklaces (other than religious medals), bracelets, hair wraps, dangling earrings, nail polish/gels/tips and make-up are not permitted. Simple watches may be worn by both boys and girls. Girls may wear small post earrings; however, earrings for boys are not permitted.
  • Boys’ hair should be short and well groomed. Hair length may not exceed the back of the shirt collar and should be above the eyes. Fad haircuts and hair coloring/highlighting of any kind are prohibited. Body piercing or body art is prohibited.
  • All shoes for boys and girls must be black, brown, navy or tan; have non-marking soles; and heels that do not exceed one inch in height. Sneaker look-alikes, such as but not limited to Vans or Hey Dudes, are not permitted. A pre-approved list of suitable school shoes is given to all students prior to September. For the safety of our students, both on the stairs and playground, the following shoes are prohibited to be worn: Ballet Flats, Moccasins, Sanuks, Uggs, Hey Dudes, and Clogs.

Our goal is to keep our focus where it belongs—on learning and instructional time. When dress code expectations are not met, teachers will step in with written warnings and, for repeated infractions, appropriate school consequences to help keep students on track.

Thank you for your support.

Renaissance Star 360

Throughout the year, Saint Dominic School uses Star 360 Assessments to help teachers understand what students know and what they are ready to learn next. The first window of Renaissance Star 360 testing is scheduled to begin October 13, 2026. Students in grades 2-8 will each complete a 20 minute online assessment in Reading and Math. Results will be sent home when all testing has been completed.

Each assessment (reading and mathematics) is completed within one class period. Please send your child to school each day well rested.

National Junior Honor Society

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a junior high school student.

Our chapter of NJHS works hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. We strive to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

These four ideals have been considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student - one who excels in all of these areas.

The induction ceremony for the Saint Dominic School National Junior Honor Society will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Saint Dominic's Church and will begin at 6:30 P.M.

Confirmation Preparation Meeting for

7th Grade Parents

A mandatory meeting for all parents of seventh-grade students will be held on

Monday, October 26, 2026.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM in Saint Dominic Church. This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to partner together in order to prepare the students to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Parent Volunteers Needed

The Parent Volunteer Program is an opportunity to create a partnership between Saint Dominic School and parents by bringing the parents into the school to participate in activities that enhance the social and academic life of the students. We are looking for volunteer assistance on Monday and Tuesday for recess. If you are available, might you consider donating your time and energy to help? Please contact:

Assistant Principal, Mrs. Kate Turnbach at kturnbach@stdomschool.org for more information. Thank you!

Lunch Menu

Welcome to the Blue Jay Café!

Lunch will be $5.00 for a daily lunch purchase.

Lunch meals may be purchased in advance by purchasing a lunch card.

Lunch cards are sold in increments of 10 or 20 meals. 10 meals for $50.00 or 20

meals for $100.00.

If you have multiple children in the school, please only send in one check as

siblings share a family lunch card.

Please also note the following:

All money for hot lunch options, bagels, and/or salads must be sent to school in an envelope marked with the student’s name and homeroom and will be collected by the teacher upon taking the morning lunch count. ONLY money for the purchase of lunch will be collected at that time.

Any money for a child wishing to purchase a snack from the snack stand must remain with the child and be utilized directly at the stand. Please see the lunch menu for snack stand prices.

Lunch cards remain at school.

Lunch cards are for complete meals only and may not be used to purchase snacks.

A 2nd slice of pizza is $2.00. The $2.00 cannot be deducted from a lunch card.

Please send $2.00 in an envelope marked with your student’s name and homeroom.

All checks must be made payable to St. Dominic School. Parents are asked to include the student's name and homeroom on the check.

Reminder: In the event of an emergency or if your child forgets their lunch or

lunch money, they will be allowed to charge for that day. Payment of that charge must be sent in the following day. Lunch charges will not be allowed to

accumulate.
