2025 HORIZON TX MISSION PROJECT

OUR 2025 PROJECT: The Jerri Savuto Girls Center

The center is changing lives of girls in rural Kenya. This refuge allows girls as young as 7 to escape female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced marriage. The tradition of FGM is hard for most of us to imagine or understand. Learn more by reading this book from the UWFaith Reading Program:

The Girls in the Wild Fig Tree

THE GIRLS IN THE WILD FIG TREE:

HOW I FOUGHT TO SAVE MYSELF, MY SISTER,

AND THOUSANDS OF GIRLS WORLDWIDE

by Nice Leng'ete

This is the story of a girl who escaped FGM and you can learn about the culture and practice from her perspective.Written in an easy to read style, you'll be inspired by her story of how she went to school and became an activist changing thousands of lives.

See how you and your group can support our 2025 HTC UWF project here.
