New ways of using tablets, smartphones, and computers have changed our lives. In the time of Covid19, these tools have become windows into our world and have prompted the use of both "high and low" tech items. The purpose the 2020 Pioneer Digital Days Camp (virtual edition) is to help young children and their parents to be effective digital citizens and learners in the new virtual age.
Students and faculty of Texas Woman's University's College of Professional Education will conduct a virtual summer camp, July 13 - 17, for children and parents.
Using brain-based learning strategies and a STEAM (Scienc
e, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) framework, parents will be supported in developing their own “Tinker Stations” for use with their children. Through a collaborative online connection, parents will learn how to balance the digital world of their child with the world around them. Online sessions to support learning, and methods for adopting healthy digital culture parenting strategies while contributing to an online community Makerspace from home will be the hallmarks of this unique experience.
