Our first two SEEKERS events have been engaging, relevant, and a lot of fun. In February, pastor and author Andrea Raynor shared her experiences as a chaplain at Ground Zero and lessons she has learned in her work with hospice. Last week, Dr. John Delfs opened our minds about the miraculous inner workings of the human brain and shared inspiring details of the transformational work his non-profit Good Wolf is doing with at-risk youth in New Rochelle. In both cases, we left plenty of time for informal discussion, reflection, and social connection after the presentation.
Looking ahead, we have two more opportunities to Explore, Discover, and Connect through our SEEKERS program this Spring:
-
April 3rd -- Andrea Markowitz, Program Director at Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT at Gilda’s Club, will discuss the challenges of being a caregiver to a loved one. All of us have likely been called upon in some way to provide care to an aging relative, a loved one struggling with disease, or a child navigating life's challenges. This program will provide guidance, share helpful resources, and explore ways we can all improve our capacities to offer care and nurture to others.
-
May 22nd -- LAC Member Helen Coster, an experienced political journalist, will speak about the intersection of media, news reporting, and faith in current times.
LAC's SEEKERS series addresses two key priorities from the 2020 Mission Study: (1) increased engagement with our community, and (2) new opportunities for fellowship and connection. Our first two events both lived up to these goals, and we are confident that the next two will as well.
Attendance has been great so far, but there is plenty of room for you and anyone in our community you would like to invite. Hope to see you on April 3rd in Russell Hall!
