This month our "Faith Focus" theme for the school community is "preparation". This current liturgical season, Advent, begins our Church calendar and invites us in beautifully to such a theme. Let's review the basics of this season just as a refersher for some of us that may be rusty or for some of us that haven't had the blessing of participating in the rhythms and dispositions of Advent. The Oxford Dictionary defines advent as the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. For Christians, it is the preparation time prior to celebrating the birth of Jesus and it includes four preceding Sundays that lead up to the great feast day of the Nativity of Christ. How do you prepare for a notable person's arrival? With great intention! That's exactly the mindset of the Catholic Church when it comes to the Advent season. Let us prepare for the arrival of The Most Notable Person!

Reminders & Announcements

NEW INFORMATION:
Exam week is quickly approaching! Please make sure you have read through this important information to maximize your student's success at the end of the semester.
- Be sure to check the linked schedule. Exams have been scheduled by CLASS PERIOD and some courses (listed at the bottom of the schedule) do not have exams during exam week. Your student does not need to be present at school during class periods without exams.
- The start and end times of exams have been changed from past years. Please make note of the new times so that your student is present and ready when exams are to begin.
- Students who are absent MUST have a doctor’s note in order to be rescheduled to take a missed exam. Please refer to the handbook page 6, 7 and 8. Administration will schedule make-up exams.
-
Many teachers are opting to administer their exams digitally this semester. Please ensure that your student brings their CHARGED school-issued iPad each day. Teachers will let the students know if any other materials are required for their exams.
- Our Cafeteria and Learning Lab will be open to students Monday, 12/16 to Thursday, 12/19. See below for hours and details.
- Cafeteria hours 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM - This space is available for students who wish to socialize or study in a more casual environment. Additionally, Catering by the Family will provide snacks for purchase.
- Learning Lab hours 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Students who wish to have a quiet study space are welcome to visit our Learning Lab.
-
Please also take a moment to review our Semester Grade Override Policy found on page 8 of the Parent/Student handbook: Because semester exams represent a comprehensive understanding of the course material, a semester exam grade of one or more letter grades above the average of the semester will improve overall achievement by one letter grade. For example, a student with a grade of C going into the semester exam who earns a B or an A on the exam will receive a B for the semester. Otherwise, the semester exam accounts for 20% of the semester grade.
Thank you for your continued commitment to academic excellence as we finish the semester!

The evening will begin with a prayer service focusing on the meaning of Advent, followed by hands-on service projects in the cafeteria to support migrant families in need. This is a wonderful opportunity to live out our faith and share in the joy of giving.
All are welcome to attend—let’s come together to make a difference this Advent season!

Celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas
Students in Mrs. Masters's theology class are embracing the joy of the season by celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas! Known as the patron saint of children and a defender of the faith, St. Nicholas inspires generosity, kindness, and courage. The class is reflecting on his life and legacy while exploring how his example can guide us in our own faith journeys.
Spanish Honor Society Starts Pen Pal Program
|
Our Spanish Honor Society students alongside advisor, Mrs. Sonia Morgan have launched a Pen Pal Prayer Club with 15 honor students from Guadalupe Regional Middle School in Brownsville, TX!
To kick off this special connection, they sent care packages filled with cards, letters, and handmade friendship bracelets. Throughout the year, they'll keep these students in their prayers and send additional care packages to continue spreading joy and encouragement.

Tampa Catholic B.E.S.T. brought the spirit of Christmas to Tampa Hope! With hearts full of service, they baked festive cookies, beautifully arranged the Nativity scene, and shared the warmth of the season by serving a delicious hot lunch. Their efforts not only brightened the campus but also reminded everyone of the joy that comes from giving back.
