Library Update

In February, even a shorter month with Professional Development and Conferences, the library has seen an increase in usage from last year.

Some highlights include: Lessons with English & Creative Writing, and a research project in Forensic Science on Death by Toxins. Our circulation statistics for February has increased by 200 books- including physical books, MackinVia usage, and Comics Plus Usage. While Ms. Carpenter only taught 19 classes, she has seen an increase in requests for future lessons and resources - books, research, and WebQuest websites. The Library has ordered 200+ new books to add to our collection that will be arriving over the next few weeks. We have already received 73 of those books and have them ready for students to check out! Ms. Carpenter represented HISD and Bellaire High School as a presenter at TCEA (Texas Computer Educators Association) on Makerspaces and utilizing Canva in the classroom. Circulation for this year is up nearly 1k books more than we had checked out last year from August to February! Right now, we need to check out only 500 more books to surpass our total circulation numbers from last year!
