This Spring we decided it was time that the cracked concrete Environment Centre floors received a little makeover. The new wooden floor was designed and constructed by Paul Patterson, a skilled local woodworker. He sourced old pine and cedar, the cedar coming from the old beams of a century barn that had been torn down. Some
butternut, maple and ash was also
milled and used from fallen trees from around Camp Kawartha.
In the rounded section of the Centre, Paul designed a compass rose to remind us all of the importance of the cardinal directions. The compass rose is oriented towards true north, test it out the next time you come to visit.
