From Your Administrative Team

Hello Da Vinci Connect Families,

We want to honor Holocaust Remembrance Day on 1/27 and share this resource for any family looking to honor and explore further.

On a similar note, Nydia and the admin team supported Core 5 in facilitating special Morning Meetings this week, focusing on Harmful Language and strategies for speaking up. Students engaged in vocabulary building, a community building activity, engaged in thoughtful discussions, and shared strategies on how to speak up when necessary. We all also re-established the commitment to a community of belonging here at Connect where harmful and hateful language has no place. Nydia and the Core 5 team created and shared a version of THIS resource with students--we encourage you to explore and continue the conversations at home!

As we get back into the swing of things, we also want to remind you of our Dress Code Policy and our Food Policies (Family Handbook linked in the footer of this newsletter for reference):

-Please make sure that students are not wearing crop tops to school and are wearing closed toe shoes with backs

-Please also make sure your student is bringing a variety of nourishing foods to school. We do not allow treats or fast food, including soda

-Please also remind your student that we do not share food at school. Everyone has what they need, and we want to make sure we are practicing safe habits

Thank you for having these conversations with your child at home and helping them make safe and school appropriate choices in alignment with our handbook policies.

Enjoy the weekend!

Important Logistics For a Smooth Conference Day

Parking & Street Sweeping Information

  • Please remember that the front parking lot is for the Wiseburn Preschool families only.
  • Connect TK8 families are welcome to park in the back lot (near the field), or at Del Aire park (next door), or in the neighborhood.
  • Also, keep in mind that there is street cleaning on Isis Avenue, on Wednesdays, on our side of the street.

Childcare/Study Hall

  • If you pre-registered and reserved a spot for your child, please send quiet homeschool work that can be done independently, as well as a book (or, two!).
  • Remember to send snacks and water, as well.

PEC is one of the most valuable things you can do to build your skills as a home educator. You will leave PEC with strategies and tools to engage your children in meaningful and robust mathematics instruction, at home, the very next day! You will also benefit greatly from the opportunity to build social connections by meeting and collaborating with other parent educators.

If you have questions, or wonderings, please email Theresa, our Parent Educator Support Specialist.

WE HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU ON FEBRUARY 7TH!
