Your Essential West Putney Update
Dear resident,

We hope you are well and staying safe.

Please see below a list of stories letting you know what we have been up to locally.

If you have any comments on our locality we would love to hear from you.

Best Wishes

Jane, Ian & Steffi.
Putney Park Lane
After so much rain, Putney Park Lane around St Margaret’s Church is once again waterlogged and hard for residents to navigate.

You really have to be wearing wellies! As this has happened in previous years we are keen to see improvements that keep the essential character of the surface but help disperse the water. Following our requests for action, we are delighted to report that the council is now finalising plans to improve drainage and carry out works to the kerbs and grass verge adjacent the church.

Consultation will begin shortly and we look forward to reading your responses to the ideas put forward
Dover House Parade Improvements
Improvements to the Dover House Parade of shops, that your local Councillors lobbied for, are almost complete. These improvements upgrade road and pavement surfaces as well as bring forward works to improve accessibility.

Cllr Ian Lewer said: “I am delighted to see the work near fruition. The new surfaces definitely give a smarter feel to the area as well as helping to make the parade a more accessible environment”.
Mega skip on Putney Park Lane
Residents were invited to dispose of waste during the recent, ‘Mega Skip’ day which saw a skip parked on Putney Park Lane. The initiative proved extremely popular and the skip was filled in a matter of hours.

Cllr Steffi Sutters said: “Residents really welcomed this initiative and we have plans to repeat it in the Springtime. With apologies to those who came along too late once the skip had been filled. We promise to try to ensure we have increased capacity next time so we can accommodate as much waste as possible”.
Traffic In Westleigh Avenue
Residents in Westleigh Avenue, just one of our local roads that has seen a huge uplift in traffic, will soon be asked to approve the installation of speed humps in a bid to improve safety and cut speeds.

During a recent survey, Westleigh Avenue saw some of the highest levels of rat running and speed recorded in Putney, confirming what residents have been telling us for years. Which is why we have taken action and have plans in place to install speed humps.
Street Trees
We are now in the middle of the tree planting season and West Putney will once again benefit from both replacement and new species.

They add so much to the character of the area, supporting biodivesity and improving the quality of the environment.

We are keen to add to the stock wherever possible so if you would like a tree in your road please let us know and we will add to the schedule for next season.

We know that the residents of Carmalt Gardens were keen to be included in our plans. and our tree officers were keen to oblige but sadly, on investigation, found that there are underground cables to both sides of the road which limits potential. They have now carefully dug out two trial pits which will soon be planted out.

However, adding more may be difficult.
