Information for caregivers to help children thrive!
| | At Developmental FX, “Therapy that Fits®” means care designed around your child’s unique strengths, needs, and ways of being. Every child is unique, and their therapy should be too. For more than two decades, we’ve been dedicated to matching each child with the most effective, science-informed therapeutic strategies available. But our support doesn’t stop there as we work alongside families, schools, and everyone important in your child’s life. When care is infused throughout a child’s whole ecosystem, it nurtures growth, confidence, and thriving. | |
Bridging Science and Practice
At DFX, science is our compass, relational understanding is our North Star, and each child’s unique profile is our map. Together, these guide us in providing individualized care, honoring what parents already know: no two children are alike. As highlighted in a recent Scientific American article, Autism Has No Single Cause (Parshall, 2025), autism and other developmental differences are multifaceted.

Just like the popular PBS raccoon Carl of Carl the Collector finds value in every unique treasure, we see and honor the value in every child’s strengths, differences, and potential. (see more about Carl below!) For some, autism is experienced primarily as an identity and a way of being in the world. For others, it may include profound disabilities that create daily challenges. Both realities and the range in between are the landscape we work to understand and address every day.
| | Every child deserves respect, support, and care. Therapy is not about ‘fixing’ children. It is about offering them resources, addressing their individual needs, building on their strengths, and helping them to thrive as their authentic selves. Because every child’s experiences are unique, our approach must be equally flexible and responsive, and always respectful and affirming. Therapy that Fits® is always designed to fit and never forced. | | We are passionate about combining the most current science with well-established theories to create practical tools and therapeutic approaches that make a real difference in daily life. | | Developmental FX is recognized worldwide for bridging research and practice, and we are proud to bring that expertise to every child and family we serve. Families deserve more than one-size-fits-all solutions. That’s why we challenge the model of “care as usual” and lead the way toward more responsive, compassionate, affirming, and effective care. We select therapies grounded in credible science and shaped around each child’s lived experiences. | | At Developmental FX, we stand firmly with families, with children, and with science. | |
Advocating for Children and Families
When policies, systems, or public statements disregard the scientific evidence or promote misinformation, it is children and families who are harmed. Recent false claims that Tylenol (acetaminophen) use during pregnancy causes autism, or that folate (vitamin B9) can “treat” all forms of autism not only lack scientific support but also perpetuate stigma by suggesting autism is something to be prevented or cured, rather than supported and valued.
| | Families deserve better. They deserve trustworthy information, individualized support, and communities that honor their children and their journeys. We understand how tempting it can be to look for simple answers when the path feels overwhelming. However, misinformation exploits families’ hopes and fears, and risks children losing the opportunities for understanding and support they need to thrive. | | |
Every child is loved, valued, and worthy of understanding and support.
Therapy that Fits® is built on credible science, real partnerships with families, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves to flourish as their authentic self and belong fully in their communities.
