TOO LATE – TOO LATE
Several years ago, I wrote a little ditty that went like this:
Too late, too late, I bet you wish it wasn’t too late
Too late, too late, I bet you wish it wasn’t too late.
Too late, too late, I bet you wish it wasn’t too late.
Having lived to be an octogenarian, I can attest there are times that I should have done something and didn’t do it, and it was too late to do what needed to be done.
What things; you might ask? Well, the first one would be to ask someone for forgiveness. You know as well as I that we can be stubborn with this one. But it is important to do it while the other person is living. If you don’t, it will be too late after they have died.
I could say the next one would be to listen more to the Lord by spending time in the Word of God. This one happens when the flesh overrides the Spirit. We often miss out on something that the Lord wants us to share with us by putting the flesh first.
Then, the next one is putting off what the Holy Spirit has nudged you to do. It might be to write a note to a friend, or make that phone call, or visit the sick, or just being obedient to answer the call upon your life.
Regardless, if we don’t change this habit of putting things off, or procrastination, we will live with regrets. Don’t wait until it is too late to do what you must do. We must remember Colossians 3:23-24 which says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Don’t be the one that sings my song and wishes that it wasn’t too late.
