MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

Another fantastic Eaglefest curated by Teatown. What could be more fun than seeing the eagles and falcons soar at Croton Point County Park? Shoutout to the many environmental groups, the folks from the county parks, my colleagues in government, and, of course, all the families that came out for this educational event. Ossining was well represented by teens and volunteers.

We are aware of concerns regarding ICE activity in our community early morning on February 3, 2025. As a matter of courtesy, the Ossining Police Department was informed by ICE that they are looking for an individual. OPD is not involved with this matter or this search. At this point, we still do not have any material updates on ICE activities since they are a federal agency independent of our local police. Any questions regarding federal agencies should be forwarded to your congressman as your federal government representative. If you have questions about immigration, the State Attorney's office has information on their website. Here in Ossining, we have suggested reaching out to Neighbor’s Link for information (click here: https://neighborslink.org/). Please follow us on our social media venues as well as my weekly Mayor’s message for updates. We want to assure the community that our goal remains safety, security, and peace of mind for all.

Great news! The Climate Justice Fellowship, program Opportunity Notice 4772, has been re-launched with an extended deadline. Now, applications are due on a rolling basis through December 30, 2025, giving everyone a chance to participate in this important initiative.

Through this opportunity, NYSERDA is seeking to fund and provide professional development training and mentoring for year-long, full-time fellowships for individuals from Priority Populations and/or Disadvantaged Communities. These fellows will work within organizations and businesses that advance climate justice and clean energy priorities for Disadvantaged Communities across New York State. Fellows can collaborate with community-based organizations, universities, municipalities, tribal nations, public libraries, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for K-12 schools, climate tech innovators and start-ups, venture development organizations, and clean energy businesses. A total of $6 million in funding is available for approximately 150 fellowships over four years.
