Take the Safe Routes to School Survey!
Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a program from the U.S. Department of Transportation. It supports making walking and biking to school safer for students. South Euclid–Lyndhurst Schools are doing a study as part of this program to help our students walk and bike to school more safely and easily.
The District is asking for ideas from students, parents, and the community through this stakeholder survey. This feedback will help make the best changes possible. When students can walk or bike safely, it helps their bodies and minds stay healthy.
The plan follows the “Six E’s” of SRTS:
- Engineering
- Education
- Encouragement
- Enforcement
- Evaluation, and
- Equity.
These can include better sidewalks and crossings, teaching safety skills, encouraging walking and biking, using tools like crossing guards, and making sure everyone’s travel and safety needs are met. The results of your input and the data collection will result in a School Travel Plan that will be used to seek out funding sources for implementation.
Please take part and share your thoughts through this 5-10 minute survey. The survey will be available until February 16 and the School Travel Plan should be finished by early summer.
