Vote Now For Your Preference
At-Large Members
PLEASE VOTE NOW by selecting your choice(s). Use this form to submit your vote on or before January 11.

Branch Members
PLEASE ASK FOR A VOTE AT YOUR JANUARY MEETING (or poll your members by email if you meet after January 10). Then use the form to respond for your branch on or before January 11.

On the last two ONE WILPF Calls (November and December) we began to introduce options for Solidarity Actions we together embrace during 2022.
(You can watch the recording of both calls here.)

Several options were discussed… but three (below) sounded like they had the broadest interest of the members and branches on those calls.
Now we want to hear which ones have YOUR support!

Which would you personally, or with your branch, be inclined to participate in and lead at the local level?
Please use the form to submit your vote.
1. MOBILIZING TO DEFEND THE DEMOCRACY AND VOTING RIGHTS
January through November time period

Starting in January with coordinated support for the John Lewis Voting Rights Bill, actions can continue through the year, including some or all of these actions:
  • Voter Registration Projects,
  • Collaborating with Get Out The Vote efforts for the 2022 mid-term and local elections (including Letter/postcard writing parties live or via Zoom (using lists compiled by groups like Swing Left, Vote Forward, Voto Latino, Rock the Vote, etc.),
  • Tabling at public events, farmers’ markets, and going door-to-door.
  • Organizing car caravans to direct folks to polling places.
  • Getting trained as poll watchers.
  • Asking candidates to take public positions about the bloated military budget, militarization of police, and moving the money from war to peace.
We want to organize… Please speak up to volunteer for a short term planning committee.

2. MOBILIZING FOR THE JUNE 18th POOR PEOPLE’S CAMPAIGN MASSIVE MARCH ON WASHINGTON, DC
January through June time-period

Starting early in 2022 individual members and branches of WILPF can begin to collaborate with local allies to plan to bring members and community allies to the Poor People’s Campaign’s March on Washington.
  • Plans for renting busses and carrying signs can be put in place to make sure that there is a WILPF presence in Washington DC on June 18th
  • On the same day plan protests and demonstrations at State Capitals where the Poor Peoples Campaign has been also pushing for funding and moral budgeting.
  • Be sure to wear your WILPF Sashes, carry banners, and identify yourself as a WILPF member supporting our partner, the Poor People’s Campaign. (resources for banners and sashes here.)
We want to organize… Please speak up to volunteer for a short term planning committee.

3. ORGANIZING ACROSS CITIES ON BEHALF OF THE MAYORS FOR PEACE PROJECT
The US Conference of Mayors will hold its annual national conference virtually on August 31, 2021. Planning should start in Spring, to ask your city’s mayor to bring a resolution to ban nuclear weapons and nuclear delivery systems. We can begin strategically planning how to roll this out across the US.
We want to organize… Please speak up to volunteer for a short term planning committee.
PLEASE NOTE

These proposed actions are apart from the hoped for January 22 Anniversary of the TPNW, the treaty that makes holding, maintaining, selling and making threats with nuclear weapons illegal internationally.

The DISARM Committee hopes that all of us will find ways to mark that anniversary visibly and cohesively across WILPF US and will be sending more information early in 2022.

Please use signs, banners, and WILPF Sashes to make it clear that you are a WILPF member standing for an end to nuclear weapons. Find them here.
