We are proud to announce that September is National Honey Month! Every Saturday, the Mississippi Farmers Market has honey vendors who are always happy to serve the community with quality honey that comes from bees raised right here in Mississippi.
Honey is a simple, yet versatile, commodity. It goes well in teas, coffees, and desserts. You can even glaze your meat and fish with honey. This Labor Day, try dripping a little honey on some fruit and place it on the grill next to the other foods you're cooking. Don't forget to drop some honey into your barbecue sauce for a special flavor.
Some other foods that taste delicious with a honey glaze are carrots, salads, and breads.

The events that transpired on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, by terrorists are ones for Americans to always remember. On that day, four airplanes were hijacked, two of which were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, located in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City. The third plane flew directly into the Pentagon (the headquarters of national defense) in Arlington, Virginia, and the final plane crashed in a Pennsylvania field after hijackers were overtaken by passengers.
These events are one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in history, with almost 3,000 deaths.
Take this time to reflect on the ones we lost in this tragedy. This is also a great time to be thankful for our first responders and brave military heroes who work hard every day to take care of us and to defend us.

September has finally arrived, and this month is National Honey Month and National Rice Month. Honey can be found at the Market, and although we do not currently have any rice vendors at the Market, there are several items available to "perk up" or accompany any rice dishes you prepare.
As everyone finalize their Labor Day plans and create their menus, keep in mind that September is a good time to start writing a list of things you want to do or accomplish in year 2021. Enjoy Labor Day. Get some rest. Eat great food. Then, go ahead and complete your 2021 goals list by November, and let December be a "trial phase" of actions you must take to achieve those goals and objectives for the new year. Maybe you want to lose 20 pounds? Start a new career? Renovate your kitchen? Well, write those goals or plans down, and create a list of ways you can achieve each.
As you reflect on September and how this rather interesting year is coming to an end, remember to embrace your Mississippi Farmers Market. Shopping fresh and supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs feel good.
For convenience, you can still place your order in advance by contacting the participating vendors listed above and picking your items up at the Market.
While shopping, remember to be on the lookout for vendors on BOTH sides of the Market—the east and the west. We are open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
