Dear Mark,
During the start of this traditional month of giving, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for all that our families and educators do to ensure the success of our Vipers. Even looking at this single Viper Eye issue, it is obvious that our students have a lot of support in the classrooms, in their athletics, with their clubs & organizations, and at home.
Due to the Thanksgiving break during the last week of the month, we now only have 13 instructional days remaining in November. This is happening during a period when the instructional focus is accelerating as we move towards the end of the 1st semester. Therefore, I must emphasize how difficult it is for students to learn the concepts that they missed during the regular classroom instructional time. Absences and tardiness essentially rob our students out of important instructional time. Students really must be present in class for bell to bell instruction. If you have a student at LBV this fall, please help support them in making daily, on-time attendance the highest priority, especially during this shortened month.
Thank you for reading about some of our latest Viper success stories.
In Viper Pride,
Maricarmen Aponte

Taylor Swift On Grit
My experience has been that my mistakes led to the best things in my life. And being embarrassed when you mess up is part of the human experience. Getting back up, dusting yourself off and seeing who still wants to hang out with you afterward and laugh about it? That's a gift. The times I was told no or wasn't included, wasn't chosen, didn't win, didn't make the cut…looking back, it really feels like those moments were as important, if not more crucial, than the moments I was told ‘yes.'
~ Taylor Swift, singer/songwriter
Patrick Mahomes On Growth
Every experience, good or bad, you have to learn from.
~ Patrick Mahomes, quarterback
John Wooden On Prioritizing
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?
~ John Wooden, basketball coaching legend
Seneca On Readiness
Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity.
~ Seneca, philosopher
Aaron Donald On Excellence
There's always room for improvement. That's my mindset.
~ Aaron Donald, football player
Jonathan Winters On Initiative
If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it.
